Question about Frigidaire GLGR331A Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer will not heat

This gas dryer is a Frigidaire Gallery about eight years old. It was working just fine until I decided to clean the lint screen and the outlet to the outside. I used a vacuum cleaner and an air compressor to remove excess lint. I was successful with my cleaning but I think I may have blown the pilot light (if there is one) out. As a consequence - I cannot get the dryer to ignite. I didn't take it apart and left the gas and electric hooked up. I know I have power and I know the gas line is not kinked and producing gas except I don't smell any coming in. And I know I have ac because all the mechanical partswork. jr

My guess is you probably got some lint on the ignitor and cause a burnout or a limit to trip. If you don't hear the clicking associated with the ignitor heating up and the flame sensor kicking it off then I would check to see if maybe a limit was tripped. On gas dryers when the limit trips the dryer will operate but simply will not heat up. I have a full page with service manual included HERE

Fridgidaire gallery gas dryer + burn marks

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that the dryer on your Frigidaire laundry center, model# GLEH1642FS, has burn marks. It sounds like the air flow in your dryer could possibly be blocked. I suggest cleaning out the lint trap, the ducting, and the vent outside. I also suggest cleaning the lint filter, by running it under the hottest water you can handle and a small scrub brush. You should be able to clean the burn marks with a small scrub brush and warm water. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your dryer status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-
WP

I have a Frigidaire stackable full-size washer/dryer. I don't have the model number, but it is about eight years old. The dryer does not get hot enough to dry even a small load well.

When was the last time you cleaned out your vent? It should be done every 1-2 years to prevent build-up of lint and possible blockage. Also make sure your outside dryer vent flap is not stuck closed or clogged. I use a plumbers snake to twist inside the vent and clean out the lint. It makes a huge difference in drying time. Also disconnect the vent from behind the dryer and check for lint build-up inside the back of the dryer itself. (Be sure to unplug the dryer before you do this!) When you push the dryer back, be careful not to squish or pinch the dryer vent if it is a flexible foil or plastic tube. These are the easy fix-it's. Try them first before resorting to more expensive trouble shooting. Douglas

I've got a fridgedaire gallery gas dryer, approx 8 years old. Takes too long to dry clothes. I've cleaned inside as best I could and the dryer duct. Is seems to get hot some of the time, but not constant

if you use fabric softener. i recommend you slow it down...alot. an appliance guys nightmare is just that. inside fabric softener, is wax. your lint screen may look clean. but run it under hot water. ive come across many a lint screen where the water will simply not go through the screen, even though it appears to be sparkly clean.

My Gallery series dryer shuts off.

Check your lint screen. If you do not get a complete "lint pattern" you probably have a clogged or partially clogged vent which will cause your dryer to overheat and prematurely shut off. Clean your vent and you'll return to normal operation. If you have a vertical vent (goes up through the roof) get a proffessional to clean it. Dryer vent issues are the #1 cause of house fires according to the U.S Department of Consumer Affairs. Over 16,000 per year.
