I mainly use the Brother MFC-5890CM InkJet Printer for printing A3 sheets. If not used for a long period the printer goes into a non stop and ongoing head clean cycle. This could go on for a great many head cleans until I would turn it off. Then try to get rid of memory by total disconnection and left overnight. Only to find the next day the head cleaning would continue. My frustration to get the printer to stop head cleaning and get on with printing used to last for several days.
I finally purchased some Ink Jet Cleaner which came with a small bottle of cleaning fluid, syringe, and a short tube.
I removed the cartridges and injected a couple of drops of the fluid into the cartridges and let them stand so the fluid could soak down into the ink. Then stood the printer on its back end, pushed the tube over the print head inlets and injected another couple of drops. of fluid I found it difficult to control the fluid injector and invariably used too much fluid, so. Before doing so I placed some absorbent paper around the inlets to absorb any overflow. I allowed a few minutes for the fluid to soak in, and then tidied up overflow with a cotton wool bud.
I cleaned and re-assembled the cartridges, reconnected the printer and did a print out test. The printer then did a head clean and I thought for a minute my experiment had not worked. Then it went into ready to print mode, did a perfect print out and at last I had my Brother MFC-5890CM working again.
I had not used my Brother for printing over the past couple of months and it again went into this non stop head cleaning cycle. I used the same procedure as previously described and following a single head clean it was working again.
I hope this helps anyone who has had the same problem.
In this instance where black is the problem, just try my remedy on the Black cartridgeRegardsDonny

* Buy alcohol solution (70% or more). You can find it in any drug store.

* Remove both cartridges from the printer head. Unplug the printer head from the printer body. Pour the alcohol into paper towel layer.

* put the printer head on the top of wet towel with the face of HEAD touching the towel.

* clean the head with the towel and get rid of all the built-up ink on the head.

* Pour the alcohol into the printer head container (ink-receptacle area is where the ink cartridge normally sits, notice a small hole where the ink flow into the printer). Do not touch any electronic parts and let it dry over night.

* Do step 2-5 again if necessary.

* Install the cartridge back to the printer and run several head cleaning maintenance, print nozzle check, make sure to repeat this step until no more dead nozzle shown.

HP PSC 2210 InkJet Printer. The following has to be done for checking the Blank Ink Catridge working : 01. Remove the existing Black catridge and Color Catridges from the Printer carefully. 02. Clean the location with a soft cloth with cleaning liquid to make the place dust free. 03. Put the correct black and colour cartridges recommended by HP and that too genuine one. 04. Do not use any refilled or reinked local catridges that will spoil the HP PSC 2210 printer. 05. Re-install the catridges both Black and Colour properly. 06. Take a test print out - both black and colour print outs. 07. Check the Printer status and there is no warning of Cartridges wrongly inserted. Have a Good day.

Washed out prints

Have you tried taking the print head out and cleaning all of the gummed up ink out of it. We had our black just quit on us and were just printing pale copy. There was an unbelievable build up on the print head. Another thread about the black not printing any more has a lot of stuff on this.
