I have HP Pavilion dv1000 PC Notebook with 6GB of RAM and the processor is of Intel Celeron. Could I upgrade the processor and if possible to intel core?

there is no gain with the processor.
no full models stated, just the dv1000 (it has a full model and p/n stated on the service tag.
also you cant switch from AMD to intel, or the reverse. (cpu swap)
tell why you need more speed?
To t do what, that the above , can't to?
a SSD hdd is the only sure fix. for speed here. (vast )
for speed here. IMO
computers can do millions of things (apps)
name just one , that you use that fails, or runs too slows.
thanks for any answers to simple questions.

I want upgrad my dell dimensons prtocessor but i dont know anyu that will fit its 479 slot any sugesstions

According to Dell here are the CPUs that your motherboard (if you have the original one) can use:

Intel® Pentium® 4 that runs at 1.80, 2.00, 2.40, or 2.50 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally;

Intel Celeron® that runs at 1.70, 2.00, 2.10, 2.20, or 2.30 GHz internally and 400 MHz externally.

So, if your current CPU is slower than any of the above, you can replace it with something like this Pentium 4 (2 GHz and cheap) or this Celeron (2.3 GHz) new or used (very cheap) this Pentium 4 (2.5 GHz). Looks like 2.5 GHz is the maximum recommended speed for the motherboard.

Want to up grade my cpu and ram to improve speed and program use.

Question#1 is my current processor duel core or single core , how can I know?

Intel Celerons are Single Core. You can also download and run CPUID (free) from http://www.cpuid.com/ No installation needed either , just run it!

Question#2 What kind of duel core processor in combination with new ram should I install?

I dont think your computer supports dual core. I cannot be sure without you giving me the make and model of the motherboard. Besides , a 3.33ghz Celeron D is a great processor!!!!

Memory - See http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Presario%20SR2150NX you can have a max of 2gb. You have 2 slots on the motherboard so its 1 gb per slot and the board takes DDR2 PC2-5300.

Here , you can expand to your max of DDR2 PC2-5300 2gb (2x1gb) for $24 and theres free shipping too!!!

How do I overclock a Celeron 733mHz PGA370?

You can only overclock your computer if it has ATAPI BIOS. So get into BIOS upon bootup and if you have ATAPI then it will say it across the top. It will also have a section for the CPU with the current speed and an option to change it.
