I've had my speakers for about two and a half years now and the left speaker makes a noise that sounds like paper being ripped. Is there any way to solve this or should I just buy new speakers?

Hi,
I suggest you buy a new set of speakers instead. If you want to repair it, you have to open the speakers and replace the thing inside (the one with the magnet and stuff). But, i think it would be difficult to look for that specific part now considering you have had it for more than two years. after repair, it will also be likely that the other half (the right one) will encounter the same problem also., Just buy a new set of speakers, i think it will just cost you the same whether you want to have it repaired or get a new one.
hope this helps

We have a 2.5 year old Velodyne EQ-Max8 Subwoofer. It has suddenly started making loud pulsing sounds. Are you able to give us any advice as to what may be wrong with it? Thanks

It sounds like you may have ripped the passive (the rubber material around the speaker that stretches when the speaker hits. If the passive is not ripped then it may be picking up static, or it could be blown. You can purchase a noise filter fairly cheap and try that.

I have a Yamaha htr-5740 receiver right channel is out .how do I find and fix it .I have a meter and can half as solder help please

Very easy to fix. Download htr5740 service manual.Locate speaker relays exchange the front speaker relay with the REAR ONE. If sound comes out from front left and right speakers but no sound comes from one of the REAR speakers. The defective component is front speaker relay.
Replace the relay will get it fixed. See service manual
P.82. Yellow circled is front speakers relays
When av-amp used more than four years, relay contactswill be oxidized, making bad contact.20069e32-58e8-4b17-b2b9-b2a7eadd035b.jpg

10 years and first problem to repair. When you turn on and select DVD or any other selection a very loud cracking noise comes through right speaker only. So loud (with volume tuned off too) that I fear...

I think your receiver is damaged.

Try this.

Mark the speaker wires on the back of the receiver. label the speaker connected to the left channel "Left" and the speaker connected the the right channel "Right"

Also pay attention to the polarity (positive an negative) making some type of marking on your speaker wire so you can reconnect them correctly.

Disconnect both left and right speakers.

Connect the speaker wire that is labeled "Right" to the receiver's left speaker connections only then turn your receiver on.

IF the loud noise comes back, this speaker is damaged. I am guessing that the speaker is fine.

Now connect the speaker that was labeled "Left" to the receiver's right speaker connections and turn the receiver on.

IF the loud noise comes back like it did before but now playing through the "good" speaker there is a problem with your receiver.

If so, your receiver is 10 years old. Isn't it time for an upgrade? Try ebay for good used equipment deals.

Hi i am having problems with my lg home theatre system. The front right speaker will every now and then make a loud distortion noise like static and its annoying. I,ve tried new speaker wire, new contacts...

Hi.
First make sure all connections are firmly in place. Not only speakers, but any other inputs too.
swop the left and right channels over at the amplifier end. If the sound happens on the other speaker now, you have a faulty av receiver. If it's still on the same speaker, that speaker is "broken" and requires replacing.

There's always a bzzz sound coming out when plugged in.

if there's buzzing coming out, there's probably a rip in the actual speakers. Something is torn on the inside thus the weird buzzing noise.

Unless it was a zzzzzzzzz...... noise then there's probably some sort of interference. Possibly cellphone close by, or some other magnetic thing to create that annoying sound.

For my logitech z-4 speakers, my right speaker works fine but my left speaker has stopped making noise. if you turn it up to maximum you can slightly hear it, but its really quiet. can i fix it?

googled the same exact prob. and found this forum. after reading through the postings to get some ideas, I went back to my speaker set and unplugged the serial port that hooks up to the remote. blew on the connector and plugged it back in and VIOLA! I got sound from the left speaker again! Must be my awesome, smelly breathe that woke up the left speaker....

Dead right speaker

I beleive these speakers each have there own built in amplifyer, you probably blew it, or over heated them.
