Question about Canon PIXMA MP150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I tried using non-standard ink cartridges in my Canon MP190 printer, and I got the error message #5, which says the ink cartridges are installed incorrectly or a non-supported cartridge is installed. After finally giving up on a work-around for this problem, I had the original ink cartridges refilled by a professional (I´m in Brasil, where such places are routine). Unfortunately, I get the same message with the refilled cartridges as I did with the others. If I hold the Reset button and the Power button at the same time, and then press the Reset Button a couple of times before releasing the Power button, I can make the error message disappear from the printer, but my computer no longer recognizes the printer. Surely there is a way to refill the original cartridges once or twice before needing to buy new Canon cartridges, isn´t there? Thanks, Gerald Martin spanky1773@yahoo.com

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for visiting Fixya.

Uninstall the printer's driver from your computer keeping the printer unplugged from the computer, restart your computer and then again re-install the driver (printer's software).
This will solve your problem.

Yes you could refill those types of cartridges, but it is not advisable as refilled ink will cause loss of quality and also if not sealed correctly it could spill all over the printer and will certainly cause damage.

But if you still want to refill the ink cartridges, then here is the Link

Good luck and have a nice day.

New ink cartridges are installed. No error messages but printer not scanning or printing. I have deep cleansed it twice.

Scanning isn't related to the cartridges problem unless you meant copying. The instructions to align the cartridges might help, if it insists on alignment after new cartridges are added.

Did you remove the (usually pink) tabs from the cartridges before installing?
Did you get a printout from a test page or from the cleaning operation?
Also try a removal, then reinstall of the device.

Cant load the printer cartridges for the pixma mp190

If you are trying to figure out how to load your ink cartridge in you Canon Pixma follow these instructions.
Make sure you printer is powered on. Open the top cover including the key display.
  • Step 2 Allow the ink return to move to left and stop. Remove the old cartridge which should have a 40 Black or 40 color on it by pushing down and popping it out of the holder.
  • Step 3 Now open your new ink cartridge and tear off the protective stip from the ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Place the new ink cartridge in at a downward angle and then push into a straight position by pushing the bottom into place.
  • Step 5 Close the top an allow for the printer to adjust into place. Do a test print to make sure the printer is working correctly.
  • Step 6 If you experience an error message refer to your canon guide book for troubleshooting tips. Be sure your new ink cartridge in placed in correctly. Should be next to the other ink cartridge in same alignment.

    I purchased new ink cartridges PG-30 and CL-31 I get error 5

Make sure you take the tape off of the electrical contacts before installing, and if they are refilled cartridges they have not been reset properly. If they are genuine Canon, you can return defective ones for 30 days.
