The computer runs on Windows XP. I put in the setup disk that came with the adapter and followed the instructions, don't know if it installed correctly.

got to the Wireless Zero Configuraton but the start option was greyed out, there was only stop and restart. I clicked restart and got a restarting box but I still cant find the view available wireless network option.

If you installed the wireless utility for your adapter try using that instead.
You can also enable first the Wireless Zero Configuration on XP
Click Start-RUN- Type services.msc on the RUN box then on the services local look for Wireless Zero Configuration, Right click on it and select start thats it you should have a View available wireless network option now.

Go to control panel>network connections and check if you can see there the wireless connection.

    Try it from there.

Ok, lets make sure your wireless adapter is working properly on Device manager follow this:
Right click My computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager then check on network adapter if you can see any thing about a wireless adapter.

Because for the fact that you don't see any wireless connection there's a possibility that the wireless adapter is not working fine or its disable.

Computer cabled to Dynex enhanced G wireless will not connect

Unplug the router for ten seconds and plug it back in, it needs to reset. Some routers have a reset button. I often wait longer than ten seconds, I find a beer is usually the right amount of time. Sometimes the modem needs a reset also; unplug everything, then plug back in sequence, with the modem first, the wait, then the router, wait, then turn on your computer. That system works for any brand modem and router.

Can  Dynex 4 Port Router DX-E402 be used to connect internet on a notebook without using cable to notebook?? i.e. Can it be used like a wireless g router??

Unfortunately, the DX-E402 is not a wireless router, so it can not transmit its signal without a physical cable connecting the router to your computer. If you want a wireless router that can also connect to your ISP, check out the Dynex Enhanced Wireless G Router:

I cant get my laptop to connect to the internet, I don't know if is a router problem or the notebook card.

Make sure that you have the correct card for your wireless network. Ususally when you get network cards from people like at&t, you pay for it monthly, which you get the wireless signal from a satilitte. Since it ins;t working, you should return it or have them repair it until it works.

Wireless access

If you are sure your wireless network is working, you may try calling your internet service provider to reset the router. Your computer should automatically detect the wireless setting. You may also have to reinstall your wireless card.
