SOURCE: 24 volt trolling motor wiring

Just like a flashlight. Positive to neg, In a loop going to the motor. That is the jump between the batteries, One red wire coming in from motor, it will go to pos, from one battery, the neg will go to the 2nd battery pos. From the 2nd battery neg will go to the motor. That is it, one jumper connecting the 2 batteries, will create the 24 volts. Hope this helps.

Good battery , good battery in remote 70 lb thrust trolling motor - no go. ?

Hey Rob,, ??? ..Did you have the batteries CCA checked?? Cold Cranking Amps..?.. this is the only check to determine if your batteries are actually "good"...Next, take a volt meter and check the voltage at the trolling motor connection..if you have voltage at the plug, its time to move up to the head of the trolling motor...Since I do not know what brand if trolling motor we are working on.. these guys will take care of you from here...

My son and I have 2 12 volt batteries which should be drawing 24 volts to our trolling motor but is not. We have a separate 12 volt starting battery what is going on.

If you connect 2 12 volt batteries in series to get 24 volts and you don't get it, then one of the batteries has a bad cell or you have a poor connection between the two.

How do you wire the swithch when there is a starting battery and 2 trolling motor batteries?

The switc his designed for only two batteries. You could parallel the two trolling motor batteries and put their leads under one terminal on the switch, but any time the switch was in that position, both batteries would be feeding the trolling motor load at the same time.

In any case, always connect the starting motor to it's own terminal. You want to keep that battery seperated from the trolling motor load so that you do not run down your starting battery.

How to attach leads to batteries

This is what they call a series connection. The two 12 volt batterys are wired together in a series to make one 24 volt battery. The positive wire or red from your trolling motor goes to the positive post on battery 1. The negative lead from trolling motor goes to the negative post on battery 2 then there is a short wire that goes from negative on battery one to positive on battery 2. NOW GET THAT HOOKED UP AND GET IN THE BASS.

No movement or spinning of motor when turned on

One way to help isolate the problem is to turn the motor to an "on" position. Using a voltmeter, using the leads that go to the battery, test for continuity. If none, your problem is with the motor itself or the wiring inside the unit. Hopefully, you just have a loose connection. If the motor becomes warm or hot when connected to a charged battery while in "on" position, the motor is the problem.

Diagram of 36 volt hookup for trolling motor, i have a factory 24 volt wiring in my boat and I need to turn it into a 36 volt please help thank you

To get 36 volts, number batteries 1 thru 3. connect pos 2 to neg 1, connect pos 3 to neg 2, connect pos 1 to trolling motor controller and neg 3 to ground on trolling motor.
This is only a solution for 3 battery system.
For 4 battery system, connect 4 to 3 pos to pos and neg to neg.

Converting From 12/24 to Starght 24 Volt

if it is 24v. then you need to connect 2 battery in parallel. since the battery is only 12v.
if one battery is shoing red and the other is sohwing green, that means you are using 12v only, not the 24v.
connetion as follow:
positve of battery 1 to the motor, the negative of battery 1 to postive of battery 2. the negative of battery 2 to the motor.
