Question about Dolphin Maytronics Advantage

The cord is so tightly twisted the unit can move far

The cord started twisting the first time out of the box and it's only gotten worse. I've tried to stretch it. leave it in the sun, keep it wound on the caddy, etc. but the minute it's released it twists around itself in clumps again and then the unit won't go all the way across the pool. What can I do?

Thanks, I did not know this so I'll give it a try. Can you tell me specifically how to change the handle orientation? Do you mean just rotate the handle like a quarter before I run it? I tried that once before (only once though maybe I should try again) but it only ended up being pulled back over by the cord. Is there a way I can 'lock it in place' or something like that?

Thank you for posting your question here on

Are you reversing the handle after each use? If not the cable twist is worse. Orient the handle in the opposite direction of the twist and run the cleaner in that direction until you get the twist(s) to relax. If all else fails you can replace the cable with a more expensive one that has a build in swivel to minimize twist.

Where the handle attaches to the side there is a latch that you press down on. When done the handle can slide from one end to the other, possibly with two intermediate catches along the way. You should have each side of the handle 'opposite' the other which in turn centers the handle when upright directly above the impeller.

The latches are circled in the picture.

My 2008 Mazda5 is twisting from side to side when I accelerate, then let off the gas a bit.

Pulling hard seems to me that a bearing may be freezing up/going bad or a brake is not consistently releasing. Is this more noticeable as you break or is there any grinding?

My rifle is out, 3"

The gun can be getting hot during your sighting in session. Heat from the reviver can throw your setting off, then as you adjust things get worse. Start and loosen the scope rings one at the time. Front first, and re-tighten, then the rear. Fire 2 shot groups, letting the gun cool some in-between each group. This way you can figure out if it is the scope loosing it's center or the mounts getting in a bind due to heat and twisting the tube. After each adjustment tap on the scope to set the cross hairs, again this will give you feed back, if the scope can hold it's center. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

Cord keeps binding rover not reaching far pool wall

This happens to me when I don't take care of the cord according to the instructions. By it's very nature the Rover likes to twist its cord. Are you certain you are removing all the twists in the cord before you start cleaning? Also, are you swapping the pin on the moveable axle every time you clean? Swapping this pin changes the direction from clockwise to counterclockwise (and vice versa) and keeps the cord in reasonably good condition.

Aquabot goes in one direction

Find a looooong straight area and, starting from the Aquabot, hold the cord straight and straighten it out by letting the cord twist so it isn't all gnarled and twisted - move down the cord, always keeping one hand firmly on the end of the cord closest to the machine (to prevent it from re-twisting). You'll find that the cord will spin like a top as you get closer to the end. Once untangled, pull down on the metal rings under each end of the top floating handle (may require a pull and a slap against the handle). MAKE SURE THE HANDLE IS LOCKED IN A DIAGONAL POSITION.

Cant get 5th gear or reverse on ford escort 1.6

This may simply be a case that the gear linkage is twisted too far round to the right, so that when the lever is pushed as far to the right as it can be, its not actually pushing the gearbox over far enough.
Try slackening the clamp bolt(s) and twising the shaft 1-2mm in one direction (the direction that moving the lever to the left is) If its no different or worse, twist it 2-3mm in the opposite direction.

Sounds like a hardware problem with the screen. Try switching the video driver temporarily to one of the Microsoft standard drivers (like VGA STANDARD) and check if the problem is any different. If it is, then it is a software driver problem. If the problem is the same, switch the driver back and try this.

These solutions may damage your machine, so do so at your own risk.

Get the machine running normally and then try the following tests, watching for the static on the screen to change (get better, get worse).

- Tap lightly on the sides of the screen unit
- Open and close the screen unit lid to the full extent in both direction
- *Very lightly* twist the base of the computer one way and another - lightly, just enough to put a little pressure on the case
- *Very lightly* twist the screen unit slightly by the corners - lightly, just enough to put a little pressure on the case
- Tap on the corners of the computer's base unit like knocking lightly on a door

If any of these physical tests change the static on the screen significantly, you have hardware troubles. If this is the case, either take it for professional repair, or, at your own risk, try this.

It is very likely that you either have an electrical short or that the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard has come partially unseated. Find a friend who knows about taking things apart, tell him you think this might be the problem, and ask him or her to help you lovingly disassemble the machine looking for possible hardware problems. Remember to do anything like this with the machine completely unplugged and the battery out, and as a last resort on a machine you need but cannot afford to fix.

Final hint: if tapping or twisting the screen lightly changes the static, you probably have a ribbon cable or other hardware problem *in the screen unit*, while if you have changes in the screen when you knock on the base unit, it is likely where the video signal cabling enters the motherboard.

Good luck.
