My washing machine is a Whirlpool 6th sense. I have cleaned the filter part and checked the hoses and it is still not spinning and showing an FP error

  • cronangel Apr 25, 2008

I have still not received another Reply and I am on day 6 without a washing machine that is working properly. I will have to get a reapir man next week to fix it as I have a 3 yo and a washing machine is a priority item.

Your claim is that if you don't fix it I won't get charged. I have been charged and it is not fixed.

    Thanks Tanya

I replied on the 20th and did not get another reply until you replied today.

I do not think that my reply was late when the discussion started on the 20th with my problem. I received my first answer on the 20th which was great, but did not work. I replied to that effect on the 20th advising my model of washing machine and the fact that the first fix did not work. I received no reply until my new response today.

Yes error code "FP" has to do with blocked outlet in some way or faulty pump.

In my case i could not find any blocking in the filter so i remowed the front cover for the maskine AWM 8123 (3 screws behind the lower front plastic cover).

Now i easily cold remove the pump to check the inlet and output hoses. But nothing was found.. then i interested me for the pump that is selling as a replace unit.

When i took it apart.. the white plastic from the black i realize that when i pull the impeller in the enginepump part.. there is an area inside with washwater to... that is cooling the pump.. that hidden area in the engine part was full of sand and other debreze that caused malfunction to the pump.

Cleaning.. some oil in the bottom... put all stuff together again and voaila... works perfect.....!!!!

Well fine... I think since the solution i gave was our atmost best solution but still it didnt turn out well, this looks like there could be some damage in the mechanical parts of the motor in the washing machine, for which it will be difficult for u to handle it from ur side. So, i therefore request you to call a washing machine technician to take it for repair.

    All the Best..

When machine get to rinse cycle it stops and the letters FP appear.

FP means "faulty pump" but before buying a pump make sure to check your drain hoses first since any blockage may cause the same readout in display:
Opene the flap on the front lower right side and unscrew the cap. If it doesn't come out easily a bit of force will get it out - look for hair klips and fluff blocking the pump inlet/outlet hoses.

My washer gets so far then says fp

fp indicates a pump failiure so either clean the pump filter, or if the pump filter is clear then you will need to replace the pump as this is indication of a knackerd pump
