Question about Compaq Presario CQ60-220US PC Laptop
The wireless feature on a Compaq Presario M2000 worked fine until I accidentally pressed the blue wireless button. Now I can't get the blue wireless light to light up and connect to the internet through the wireless feature. This happened a few months ago, but after I pressed the blue button a few times the light came back on and the unit connected to the internet OK. This time I pressed the button about 100 times and nothing. I changed the power button board. Didn't help. How can I test the next possible solution? What should I try next?
You should have re-installed the Driver for the Wireless Card, you can do that by going to Control Panel, than clicking on System and Maintenance, and than going to Back Up and Restore, go to Repair Windows using System Restore, you can re-install your Driver that way or go to www.hp.com and go to Support, enter your Model #, and you can re-download your Driver from there.

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

Here's a link to the driver site for your machine. Choose your operating system and it will give you the list of drivers.

There are usually two ways with Compaq's
One is with a DOS boot floppy
The other is via a windows utility
both are usually available from the support section on the Compaq website.
Heads up only do this on mains power not battery !
DON'T stop it or switch off for ANY reason
If you knew how many crashed bios questions come through Fixya.
Check the text file or only as to what problems that bios fixes and if they don't apply to you then don't do it.
Most bios updates fix very minor issues nowadays
