For the GE Coffee Maker 169164. Do you know the activation temperature of the temperature switch that sets next to the heating element. Also, why are there two thermal fuses?

Coffee Maker GE 169164. What is the activation temperature of the temperature switch?

  • reedbarrow Jul 13, 2010

I'm replacing my coffee maker but I like to tinker. Since it has 2 thermal fuses I imagine the fire hazard is a result of the wires to the fuses being exposed and able to bounce around and short out. Thanks for the advice.

There is a recall on this coffee maker due to fire hazard. Return it to WalMart for a refund. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10238.html

My keurig coffee maker displays TCO open. what does this mean and how do I fix it

Hi,
That stands for "thermal cutout open" in other words the thermal switch activated because the thermostat did not turn off the heating element and it got too hot.
To fix it you would need to replace the TCO, and the thermostat...if you can even find the parts....they are not common parts that fail and will be very hard if not impossible to find...then add to that the time to replace them and you will be better off buying a new machine...

Our microwave is a GE Spacemaker, Model # JVM1630WB004, mfg. in Mar, 2001. Just today it suddenly decided not to function other than the light in the oven coming on when activated, etc. It does not cook...

If your microwave oven doesn't seem to work at all, check these:

Fuses
Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.

Door switch
If the fuse isn't the problem, check the door hooks and the door-release button. When these are broken, the door switch doesn't activate, so the oven can't work.

13402 coffee maker. switch light on and fuse ok. no loose connections. no heat in hot plate. not siphoning water from tank

Appears heating element is open circuited ,if resistance meeter is used between active and nuetral and resistance higher than 100 ohm indicates open circuit in element as indicator light should be in parallel with the element .The problem could also be caused by either over temperature safety thermostat which may have to be replaced if it is not reseteable or the thermostat itself is faulty.
Get someone with electrical expertize to check these

We have a commercial 3 burner Bunn automatic coffee maker that only puts out warm water and makes weak coffee

If you're sure that you've followed the operation procedures correctly, the the thermostat of the Micro wave needs to be adjusted by a qualified person/Technician. if the problem persist, then you need to change the Element/Heating coil of the M-wave.

My old GE oven (JSP38G052BG) won't bake or broil. It start then stop after 1 or 2 minutes. The heating elements get worm. Can you help me please

Hello ediben11.

If your oven's bake or the broiler heating elements won't heat but the range burners still work;the clock may be set for a timed or self-cleaning cycle. So,make sure to check the clock buttons and the knobs are set properly.
*If your clock has a knob that says "push for manual" then push the knob in after that, try the baking and broiling elements again.

*If it still does not work properly, you may have a defect in the thermostat/selector switch/common wiring.

*If the oven does not have a separate bake or broil selector switch; then the thermostat is probably the problem. It is not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Hope this helps.

Coffee maker DCC-2000 will not keep coffee hot, have change the auto off time no effect.

Hi,

Well the procedure to set the auto button off would be as follows. First set to 0 so it shut off as soon as it started brewing. Once the switch is turned to auto off, then when the numbers are blinking hit the hour button until you get the desired hours you want the heating element to stay on. If this does not keep the coffee warm then most likely you have a heating element down and will need to replace it. Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it.

Thank You for contacting Fixya.com

Have old tappan speedwave 1000. buttons work but when you press start nothing work except the countdown on display

Unplug the unit for 15 minutes...plug the unit in and try again. If that doesn't work - take the back cover off and look for any blown fuses...should be obvious.
