When you will open up the cover it will automatically bring the printhead to the front and you could click it out.

Print cartridges would not move to center when opening lid so that ink could be replaced

There could be a paper jam in the printer head clearning system. If the head cleaning system is not completing the cleaning motion cycle the carriage will not move the catridge to the centre.

Why won't my printer print black with all new cartridges?

Remove all inks, then the printhead & sit the printhead on a soft cloth soaked in warm water - let it sit for a few minutes then reinstall, close lid then make the machine ask for the inks once the inks have then been installed it should prime the machine. If this does not work try it again & if that fails then your printhead probably needs to be replaced.

How to unclog a unused printer cartridge

For your Kodak printer, you can follow the same procedure used for the HP Photosmart and Officejet printers which have removable printheads...just perform a quick 2-minute hot water flush on it:

1. Remove both ink cartridges.
2. Remove printhead (depress grey tab and pull out).
3. While the PRINTHEAD is removed, perform a hot water flush on the PRINTHEAD assembly:

Flushing Procedure: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2412

a. Over a sink, run warm tap water directly into the ink ports for approximately 2 minutes - this will effectively saturate the foam ports and blow ink out/thru the nozzle plate bottom.
b. Using a lint-free towel, remove water from rear/bottom electrical contacts. Ensure printhead electrical contacts and exposed surfaces are fully dry.
c. Install the printhead into the printer. You may observe a "Replace Printhead message" so you will need to cycle printer power by turning printer off and then on to clear the error.
d. Install ink cartridges and retest printer. You should observe a New PRINTHEAD alert message followed by an approx. 4-minute preparation countdown prompt.

--- If you have reached this point of the troubleshooting and all the previous troubleshooting steps did not work, then the printhead is likely damaged or at end of life* and may need to be replaced.

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

Canon MP510 does not print black, has new print head & new black ink cartridge, deep clean does not help, colors are OK. Initially it was intermittent black print. Now, no black at all.

This is out of the service manual. Generally you can just remove the sides and home everything and it will work fine.

The 7,007.49, 7,008.41, 7009.42, and 7,010.43 errors indicate that the
Printhead was unable to tilt normally on its axis. Possible causes include:
■ The printer was powered off in the middle of a cleaning cycle and the
Wiper Blade has frozen to the Printhead.
■ A Drum Maintenance Camshaft lobe is broken and holding the Drum
Maintenance Kit’s oil roller against the Drum when it should be retracted
to its home position.
■ Process Drive not being aligned correctly.
■ A damaged Printhead Restraint.
■ Ink spilled in the Roll Block preventing proper Printhead motion.
■ Ink or other debris under the Printhead preventing proper motion.
■ The Wiper Assembly not being aligned correctly or ink spilled in the wiper
tracks.
■ The Head Tilt Gear not being homed correctly.
■ The X-Axis Motor nose cone not being installed correctly.
■ The ferrite torrid on the Printhead interface cable has slipped behind the
Printhead causing the Printhead to bind when it tilts backwards.
■ The black plastic shroud on the back of the Printhead is snapped off and
binding the Printhead when it tilts back.
Caution
After servicing the printer, manually set the following assemblies to their
home position before powering on the printer. See Section 6 for
instructions on setting these components to their home positions.
■ Printhead (tilted forward and disengaged from Printhead tilt gear)
■ Head Tilt Gear (disengaged from Process Drive train; arrows on left
frame point to each other)
■ Wiper Assembly (bottom of travel)
■ Process Drive (holes on Transfix Camshaft and Drum Maintenance
Camshaft line up with marks on frame, large gears within assembly
line up with holes in Process Drive housing)

Got "wrong cartridge" error while attempting to print. Removed & reset all ink cartridges, still same error. Removed inks & print head, immediately lost power. Unplugged, waited, put everything...

It's a bad printhead, when it is removed, power should come back, but you need a new printhead. Wrong cartridge means the printhead is bad.
