Question about Microsoft Excel for PC

1 Answer

Since upgrading to Windows 7, I can't print from Excel (Office 2003). When I try, a "Print to File" window pops up even though that check box is unchecked in the print window. I can print from Word and everything else, but not Excel. Thanks for your help! Phil

The proper printer is the default printer but I still get the "print to file" pop up.

I also ran "detect and repair" from Excel and that didn't help. Do you think reinstalling Excel would work?

Try to make the installed printers as a default printer and then try to print.

in case that does not work when you try to print from excel, click on the drop down for printer name and select the correct printer.

This should help you

I have Windows 7 (Separate machines with x64 and x86) and Office 2003 and a Canon MX850 and had the same problem. All other Office applications apart from Excel would print without an issue.

"Print to File" screen pops up asking for me to enter an "Output File Name". In printer box "Print to File" is NOT selected.

Google did not appear to have a definitive answer but here is what worked for me on both machines.

Select File, Print (So you can select a different printer from the Canon). Select another printer (It does not appear to matter which one), then without priniting select the Canon printer again.

It worked for me and I only had to do this once (On each machine). I can now print without going through the deselection and reselection process each time.

Give it a try and good luck.

The file is corrupted in Excel 2007. What should i do?

Have you tried opening it up in another versions of Excel? Try 2003, 2010 or whatever. It can be effective.

Have you tried Open Office, Libre Office, Star Office and another? It can be useful too.

It`s possible the corruption is too bad. Have you used google to find any software? You can find both free or not, first are not so effective in my opinion. Try professional program, for example Recovery Toolbox for Excel.

You can use the trial version and decide how useful is it in this case.

Excel 2003 worksheet slow in 2007

Hi Lee, I have recently experienced the same thing. When Excel 2007 or later opens an Excel 97-2003 .xls file, there are major issues of speed. The file is opened in compatibility mode. The best thing to do would be to open the file, then save as (keep the same name if you like) an Excel 2007 .xlsx document (or .xlsm document if there are macros). Close the file, then reopen it, and the compatibility mode issue will be gone. You can now use the newly saved file as a normal Excel 2007 file. Hope this helped.

you can try fixing the problem by diting your registry.

2. on your keyboard, hit the "windows key" (between ALT an CTRL) together with the "R"
