I had a similar problem. The flue would get hot and the cooling tubes would get "warm". The refrig would get a LITTLE cool but nothing to be of any help.

I solved it though...it turns out there is a "flue baffle" (twisty little metal thing) that is supposed to hang in the inside of the baffle. It hangs from a screw found on top of the baffle and it is supposed to hang down.

The screw that held mine was corroded and flue baffle had fallen into the baffle and landed on top of the burner.

I ended up fishing the flue baffle out of the top of the baffle with a coat hanger, then rehanging it using a new screw. That solved my problem.

Not sure if this will work for you or not but good luck.

By the way, you can find an owner's manual with a diagram showing the flue, the flue baffle, and the piece of metal holding it here:

http://www.fourwheelcampers.com/DometicRefrigerator.pdf

Look on p.9, figure 9. Item C is the flue baffle and the wire holding it. Item B is the screw that was corroded on mine, and ended up dropping the baffle down to the bottom of the flue.

Below is a link to some generic directions on solving fridge-related problems. I found it to be VERY useful.

Was the end of the spiral flue baffle burned up? If it was it could be disrupting the air flow which will not allow it to reach the proper temperature. Does the flame stay lit or does it go out after a while? If it is going out after a while the thermo-switch that detects high heat may be shutting it down due to the flame being too hot. Freezer works fine but refridgerator does not see to get cold enough

While the thermoster is the most likely cause, since it is a propane/AC unit that use ammonia as the cooling medium, that is usually installed in an RV. There are more things to consider. First, you need to check it on both propane and AC to see if it acts better on one than the other. Second, you need to make sure that you are level and not parked on an incline. This allows ammonia accumulation in the tubes and can impact its ability to cool. Third, you should check for corrosion on the terminals of the two control boards. Any of these things can impact the cooling abilities of your unit.

If you are lighting the pilot corectly and waiting for the thermo couple to warm up and then setting it to on, then the thermo couple is probably bad. Good luck!

My Dometic RM2852 only cools when LP (Propane) Gas is turned on. Why won't it cool with AC only?

Good chance element is faulty. If you have a multimeter, carefully remove cover on circuit board and check voltage at terminals where element connects for 120Volt AC (hydro). The element is the round rod that slides in side of your stack and 2 black wires go from it back to circuit board. Make sure you have door open and fridge is calling for cool, otherwise you won't get voltage reading there. Best way to make sure it's calling for cool, is to open door, switch to propane, then when it lights on propane, you know it's calling for cool, then switch to AC (hydro) operation to test. If you get voltage reading from spades on board, and element isn't getting hot to touch within 10 minutes, replace element.

Not cooling in hot temps

Double check clearances around fridge, which should be zero on sides and top, as well as check baffle in stack, which should be 1-7/8" above burner. Also check door gaskets with paper (it should drag through when doors closed. Does the burner stay lit when on propane, even though temperature is increasing inside fridge?

My fridge is in a pop up tent trailer and exausts out the side. It works fine on electicity but not at all on propane? It is lit and gets hot on the coils, just doesnt cool the fridge. Thanks

Believe it or not those fridges have to be perfectly level to operate on gas. Make sure of this on both axis. Front to rear and left to right.
