RX simply shows it's in receive mode, to check that the speaker is not faulty plug in an earpiece, if that is clear then you know the speaker needs replacing.

Check your programming. Your frequency and (sub-channel) code both need to match on both radios. To operate in a simple mode, turn off the (sub-channel) code. If you are using one of the common 8 frequencies and no sub-channel, you should be able to communicate. If you are still have difficulties post a follow-up question with more details and someone will try to assist you. OR call the toll-free number in the user guide for warranty assistance with the manufacturer. Best regards.

Channels flashing from one to another is your radio scanning the available channels. You probably have a scan feature turned on. Can't help you with your other question. You might try posting in the general 2-way radio section.
