Question about Lexmark Z640 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Have a Lexmark 640 colour printer, the colour cartridge ran out, the ink on the text was beginning to fade halfway down so I presumed it was running out, the black has never worked, I installed a new cartridge but the pages are still faint and half way down the text is still faint. Any ideas?

C935 PS3 colours work, but the black fades gradually down the page. No errors on printer, toner at 50%

sounds like you have an air leak into the ink supply system, specifically on the Black ink drive.

How do I change the ink cartridge in a Lexmark x2330

  • Turn the Lexmark printer on by pressing the power button. Usually, the power button is located on top of the Lexmark printer. If the Lexmark printer does not power on immediately, then hold the button down for a few seconds before releasing it. Once the Lexmark printer has powered on, the installed cartridges will begin to move back and forth for a few minutes.

  • 2

Raise the Lexmark printer cover up towards you. Doing this will give you instant access to the inside components of the Lexmark printer. Lift the cartridge release lever and remove any installed ink cartridges. Be careful when doing this because the ink may leak out. It's best to have a disposable bag or paper towel near you when performing these steps.

  • 3

Remove the plastic from the brand new cartridges by carefully cutting them open with scissors or tearing along the perforated edges. Once you have removed the plastic, there's a yellow tag located near the bottom of the ink cartridge. Take this tag off only when you're ready to insert the ink cartridges into the slots.

  • 4

Tear the yellow tag from the ink cartridges and place them into their corresponding slots. Each one will be easily identified by its color. The cartridge release lever will have the same color as the ink cartridge. If you mistakenly place the cartridges in the wrong slot, then you'll risk having your Lexmark printer stop working properly.

  • 5

Press the ink cartridges into the slots and listen for a clicking noise after the insertion. Although you will need to firmly place the ink cartridges into the available slots, it still needs to be done gently. Close the Lexmark printer cover when you've completed the previous steps. Wait a few minutes for the Lexmark printer to recognize that you have inserted brand new ink cartridges. After a few seconds, it will go through some diagnostic steps to make sure the ink cartridges were correctly inserted.

  • 6

Print a test page on your Lexmark printer. This will help you to determine if the ink cartridges are properly working. You can view the newly printed images and text after the Lexmark printer has finished printing. Get rid of your used ink cartridges by throwing them away or sending them to an online store that accepts empty ink cartridges.

We can't get our wireless canon printer to print from our new HP laptop, can you give us any help on what we can do?

    mp 560
    and

I'd say avoid. I used to love Canon printers. I could not praise them enough.

I thought I'd buy Canon printers for ever. I have recently bought the MP640 which replaced the 610 that I had and was the most tremendous printer even.

The 640 cost me £180 ($265) and it is shocking. Black text comes out charcoal grey colour and any black in graphics is nowhere near black, again it's a charcoal grey that is horrible.

The 560 uses the exact same ink cartridges so you will presumable have the same problem with text as the pigment black that is used for text is not black. If the cartridge is dabbed on a sheet of kitchen paper to transfer ink it is very pale black (this photo black by the looks which is basicly just a paler versions of regual ink) and this will reflect in the text.

I wish I had never bought it as I know am going to buy an HP printer and this thing will be used only if I am desperate for a printer if mine breaks when the shops are closed!

Some reviews of the 560 are good but the 560 is also seen as an ink guzzler in others. The ink cartridges are very smaell and when I took mine out of the box I could not beleive how small. Small cartidges equaly running out quicker = more ink to be bought = more profit for Canon. My ink lasted a week and I printed only about 20 sheets.

It constantly runs cleaning cycles and primming cycles that use ink and fill up the waste ink pad which will need replacing probaly not long after the warrant is gone and it was cost as much to have it replaced as buying new printer.

Ask if you can have a demonstration of it before you are committed to it before possible wasting your money on it.

The 640 is Canon's idea of improvement that they seem to have only done for the sake of saying we have made this new model. The 560 will printer similar if not worst as the MP640 has a very high print head resolution - which pitty help if it it did not!

I have used my iP1300 with no problem until it ran out of ink and now the red is very orange and the whole page is faded. I have run a head clean, is there anything else I can do?

Hi - try this. Get cartridges into centre of printer - turn power off by pulling the power lead out. - (dont press power button as cartridge may head back inside - a no no.)
Remove all cartridges, then remove print head by lifting the arm to the right of the printhead. Carefully blot dry all ink showing top and bottom of the printhead with a lint free 'paper" - the stuff they make baby wipes out of is ok as it does not fall apart as does paper tissue.

Wash the print head under warm very clean running water until all colour stops running from top and bottom. Blot dry from time to time to check the clolour is finished. When it is so, make sure all of cartridge is DRY then replace in cartridge holder and close right arm down.

Replace ink cartridges, close top lid and power on again. You should check you cartridges are the correct colour ie not purple or orange etc before reinserting them - else you will have the problem again.

Go into maintenance mode and run cleaning on all colours - this will flush ink thru all heads. Do a nozzle check and it should be all pretty good.

Check for ink residue on your color cartridge.
    Try replacing the color cartridge

    If all else fails...

My Lexmarkx1270 will not print any black text etc

Is it a new cartridge? If the cartridge has been sitting a while it can get clogged. Try using a moist paper towel and gently wiping the cartridge where the ink comes out.
You could also try running the Lexmark Solutions Center program and use the clean nozzles option to force it to squirt out some black ink.
