Question about Cuisinart CBT-500 SmartPower Premier Work Top Blender
You may need a replacement clutch (coupler). Look for P/N SPB7-20TXN. It fits most Cusinart blenders. In my case, the threads stripped. The coupler unscrews in opposite direction from normal. If you take the bottom off the blender, you can put a slotted screwdriver in the slot above the fan to hold the shaft in place, then unscrew the coupler (reverse direction).

These little jewels are threaded onto the motor shaft so they tighten up when in operation. To remove, you will have to immobilize the motor shaft. See if you can insert an icepick or screwdriver into the blades of the motor fan on the bottom. Then using a punch and hammer, gently tap the clutch disk in the direction opposite from its normal rotation.
BE CAREFUL not to use so much force that you break either the clutch disk or the motor fan blade.

SOURCE: Waring blender - new blade
I just figured it out. The key is you need to think in terms of keeping the blades and the large washers separate. Here's what you do.
Thread the blade through the glass and use the white rubber gaskets against the glass and the stainless gaskets against the hardware. Then tighten the whole enchilada to the blender with the main nut (that goes on the bottom outside of the blender). Then once that's nice and tight tighten the flange that catches the blender teeth to the remaining portion of the protruding threads. Make sure you use the copper colored gasket first then the stainless washer then the stainless flange. Tighten that real good and you should be good to go.
To check if you've done it right spin the flange. If the blades spin independent of everything else you're good to blend away!

SOURCE: cuisinart sealing gasket
The gasket goes between the cutting assembly and the glass. So you slip it on over the top of the blades and then put the glass jar over top of that. Screw the bottom cap on to tighten everything together.

this is getting more and more common there is a part between the motor and the drive gear that snaps for no reason . its job is to snap if the blades jam as a "fuse" to save your house from a overheating ,jammed motor . the problem is there are no parts to buy to fix this . if its new take it back to where you bought it . otherwise shipping it 2 ways for repair to the factory is sometimes as much or more as a new blender ........ i would recomend you do one of two things : go to a goodwill or other type shop and get a nice vintage blender , it will last forever ! or move up to a vita mix . its costly but it will realy last you ... this new made in china junk is just bad news even when it has the kitchen aid name on it . its still the same junk ..... good luck........ Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob .

what you need to do is hold the blades with a towel to protect your hand, then, use a visegrips needle nose to grab the coupling (pushing the guard down) and twist it loose. It may be very tight, when I loosened mine, the plastic portion of the coupling pulled off leaving the metal "nut" tight to the shaft. Either way, remove the coupling/nut in the standard "lefty loosey" direction. Many thanks to the people at pleasanthillgrain.com for walking me through the process. Blessings to you.
