I suggest you check out your printer properties and check to make sure you do not have the settings to print in Grey scale mode, but color mode. Also a new cartridge may solve your problems, Here is a solution you might try out also, Turn off the printer and disconnect from AC, take the print cartridge out of the unit and using some achochol and a Q-tip clean the copper contact pads on the cartridge, also where you took out the cartridge in the cartridge well there you will see lots of rows of copper contact pins, clean them with the Q-tip and achocol also... Replace the cartridge and do a head alignment and cleaning then print a test page to insure good printing....Good luck
