Question about Printers & Copiers

I have bought a Canon MP510 printer/scanner. I cannot figure how to change the photo size settings in Memory card mode to 6x4. I change it then save settings but always reverts back to a factory setting 11 x 8. Some instreuctions would be most appreciated

thanks for your help, but the problem is when I want to print photos direct from the camera flash card which I insert into the printer itself.
There are two options for size 11x8 and A4 I change the size to 6x4 -load and save settings, but its not being accepted. I dont use a program on the Computer for this, it's on the printer.I think I should have just bought a simple printer, this is also a scanner and photo printer.

Thanks for your suggestion, I have a manual which tells me to specify print settings ' The settings you made in the Settings screen of the memory card mode are displayed.' There are two settings already there which I dont want and cant get it to accept 6 x 4
I dont do the settings on the computer there's a panel on the printer itself

I dont think I explained this properly, I'm not trying to print photos thru the computer, there's a panel on the printer which is for use when I insert the flash card from my camera. It has two sizes already set which I dont want and cant get it to accept 6 x 4. I think this printer/scanner/ photo printer might be beyond my capability, but thanks for your help

It just tells me to specify print settings which I can find and save but then reverts back to another size. Anyway I can use the scanner and printer no problem so some success, but have never printed photos before. Will keep trying - many thanks

Hey there blu

basically, when you want to change somethinng in any mode, your printer will ask you to save your settings right?

for you to do that, you must follow the basic setting rule.

check first on the printer settings, then follow thru the page settings , then configure the memory card settings.

it reverts back to the original settings because you havent changed the settings yet on your printer. so try to change the settings on the printer and page so that what you want to do on the memory card setting will follow.

    ok!

    now i get you.

your trying to print directly from camera to printer. athere are some tweaks on your printer for that i am sorry to assume that you were going to print it using your computer. now, siance this totally eliminates the use of the computer, please check on the settings of the printer and your camera. but i reckon that the camera has no tweaks for that and everything will be one the printer. what does your printer manual say?

All you need to do is to change the size in the software which you are using to edit the photos and do a save changes before you close the application,

I CANNOT GET IT TO PRINT 6X4 PHOTOS FOR ME. IT KEEPS TELLING ME THAT I HAVE THE WRONG SIZE PAPER

The default setting for 6x4 photos is 100mmx150mm paper. If the machine does not detect paper that size or has not been told where to find it, the machine will report a paper fault. Refer to the manual on the CD that came with the machine esp Ch2 P14 and Ch4 P22 for help in this. If you don't have the CD you can download the manual from the Brother Website.

You may look to see if it is simply a matter of changing the printing from portrait or to landscape.

I think that if you use the bottom tray to load the paper, you can use the different sizes of paper to print. Make sure to click the second button inside the lid that shows the direction the paper is fed into the printer. hope this helps!

Scanning with Canon Pixma MP450

I just did it then! With help from solution posted Feb 08 leave the acual scanner alone can be done from the computer. Steps:

1. Go to - start - control panel - printers & hardware - scanners.
2. Once inside the scanners folder just click once on the scanner icon (mine is called WIA Canon) so it is highlighted.
3. Then click on the toolbar 'File' > 'scan', then select the correct program from the list (mine was MP Navigator 2).
4. Use the MP Navigator program to select "scan photo/document", follow the instructions. At the bottom if the window that is open you can change the document type to PHOTO or DOCUMENT!

This is where the problem lies it is scanning the document as a photo which is why it is coming out as multiple documents.

Canon Pixma mp510

The top-loading sheet feeder accommodates approximately 150 sheets (depending on weight), and the front feeder is good for around 100 sheets. Actual media sizes supported by the main feeder (top-loading) include A4, B5, A5, Letter, Legal, Envelopes (DL size or Commercial 10), 10x15cm(4" x 6"), 10x18cm, 13x18cm, 20x25cm, and Credit Card (54x86mm), while the front feeder is less accommodating with just A4, Letter, and B5.
