Re: access dryer motor
Actually on this model you need to release some push clips between the top of the dryer and the front panel. about 2 or 3 inches in form the left and another on the right. Press them in with a putty knife and lift the front of the top and it will open like the hood on a car. After that remove the two screws holding the top of the front panel in place, let it swing froward and lift it off the bottom support clips. Good Luck on this!!

There's no such instruction from the manufacturer to lay the dryer on its front when removing the back panel. The back panel can be easily removed with the dryer in upright position. Only leaning the dryer a few degrees is advisable by propping up the bottom edge, not laying it on any side, when access to the inside of the dryer is necessary. Otherwise, the internal moving parts will likely dislodge and cause problems like yours.
All maytags i have encountered open from the front. There should be two screws at the bottom of the front or under opening of door. The top pops off and opens up to lay back. Swing front over to side of machine being carfull of door switch wiring.Look through botttom of dryer and you will see motor and idler pulley setup. belt is routed around drum, under pulley and around motor shaft. Hope this helps.
u need to take the cover off the unit and then remove the drum when u get the cover off the machine lay down you will see a pulley down the bottom that hooks the belt around the drum pull the pulley towards your left if your looking at the machine and remove the belt then remove the tub next part you need to remove the rear panel and the blower fan off the motor next go to the motor and there is a front and rear clip that secures the motor to the frame next remove the harness motor removed u can buy this part at marcone appliance parts and they will deliver it directly to your door hoep this helps
On a rear control LG, from the front. Open door, remove two phillips screws at 4 and 7 O'clock positions, use putty knife to push in clips (2) holding top at front, swing top back, remove two phillips head screws holding front panel cabinet. Disconnect door switch and light plugs, tilt front panel forward and off bottom tabs, allowing sensor at bottom to be un-plugged, thus front panel now completely free of machine. 4 phillips screws hold front bulk head / front drum roller supports to cabinet. Lift up and off. Reach in and remove belt from tension pulley. Drum comes right out, allowing access to motor.
Open the door and remove four screws which go into the dryer top. Swing top back. Take out the screw on each side holding the dryer front to the side panels near the open top. Tilt the dryer front forward and lift it off the bottom pegs, then swing it to the side. Leave door switch wires connected. Lift up slightly on drum to allow the belt to be placed around drum. (grooves of WE12X82 belt touch the drum) Belt goes down from the left side of the dryer directly to the grooved motor pulley, then around the belt tensioning pulley and back to the drum. Your model has a removable panel at the bottom side of the back which will allow easy access to the motor pulley area.
Take the top panel off by slideing a putty knife about 2 inches in at the front and releasing the tabs. remove screws from top of front panel after top removed. also remove 2 screws from inside of front panel on both sides about 4 inches down screwing back into front panel. pull front off and slip belt through opening. Feed belt around drum and put tension on the idler spring release onto belt. reassemble unit.
I think you must replace the belt and the tensionarm. It MUST be done from the backside of the machine... Remove the backpanel, and the drum, change the tensionarm, and put the drum into the machine again. Put on the new belt, and mount it together again. Be careful for sharp edges! Hope this helps :-)
