Question about Royal Sovereign Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have the Royal Sovereigh ARP-1400BLS, 1400ww. T/he ac turned on the first day I installed it and then after turning it off once, it would not come back on. I played w it for days making sure to leave it off for three minutes between each turn on. I floowed the direction for Power Plug Check: press the RESET button Insert the power plug in the electrical outlet Press the TESt button. If the circuit bresker is working you'll hear a clik (which I did usually hear) Press the RESET button until you hear another click (usually I heard a bell/beep which sometimes wd beep once or sometimes as many as 6 or 7 times. This suposedly means the circuit breaker in the plug ib now activated. But the AC would not come back on. Finally, I moved it to a new socket in a new location. It turned on for a day and ran all night, and now will not turn on again. I don't know what to do and feel totally frustrated.

SOURCE: I PLUG IN THE AC AND IT MAKES THE BEEPING SOUND

I assume that it has a control board in it, it could be the connections on the board or the board itself. This is really not a do it yourself job, and the board may be a problem to source, if you already changed the switch then you should be able to tackle it, the board should be available online but I would recommend that you have a tech do it... if you do choose to give it shot then please be careful and mark the wires as you pull them off, be sure the power is off before doing anything, and be aware of the capacitor as it stores power even with the unit off, and can be very dangerous. Good luck

SOURCE: My Reset button wont reset

Just guessing, here. The reset is actually a "Ground Fault Interrupter" called a GFI. It's there to cut of power in case of a dangerous electrical condition--which you probably don't have.

Did you unplug the unit? If not do so, let the GFI cool for several minutes, and try to reset again. They're pretty hard to push in, maybe use a fingernail, you must hear a click or it's not reset.

Is there water in the outdoor unit, or is it filled with snow? This is the most likely cause of an actual GFI fault.

If the GFI itself has failed (unlikely), you could replace the entire power cord. You should then maintain safety by installing a GFI circuit breaker on that circuit, or you'll be in violation of codes that might affect your homeowners insurance.

There could actually be a problem with the unit. This would be that an electrical wire has come loose and is contacting the metal chassis, creating a shock hazard. Unlikely but possible.

If the receptacal you're plugging into is old and worn it might the problem. Worn receptacles might actually have tiny electrical arcs inside, which can trip a GFI. At a couple of bucks (DIY) it's worth a shot.

If there's actually an electrical fault in the unit it can be found and repaired, but the cost of repair could very well be more than it's worth. Warranty?

The e3 light is on and its not cooling just fanning

The E3 error code, indicates that the water in the collection tank is full and needs to be emptied.
Turn the unit OFF & unplug it, before attempting to drain the tank. Once that is completed, the unit should operate as designed.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The water drain plug is located on the rear. On the bottom left edge next to the cord keeper. You'll need a pan that will fit under the drain hole, before you unscrew the drain plug. Which has a plastic handle.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks

A/c buzzes but will not turn on-it's at least 7 yrs old

If the AC buzzes that means the contactor is closing and I'm assuming the fan and compressor aren't running,so either there is no power to the unit or an open or broken wire or circuit.
