Do green light flourecent tubes in photocopying machines emit U.V. radiation ?

the majority of the light emitted by CFLs is localized to the visible region of the spectrum (approximately 400-700 nm in wavelength). In addition, typical CFLs emit a small amount of UVB (280-315 nm), UVA (315-400 nm) and infrared (> 700 nm) radiation.
If a CFL were to exceed allowable levels of UV (according to IESNA RP 27.3), its packaging would be required to be labeled with a caution label. This standard, which was developed with the assistance of the FDA, requires lamp manufacturers to provide a suitable caution if one is needed. At typical use distances, UV levels from CFLs fall below the level of general concern for normal, healthy individuals and therefore carry no such warning.

Overheating

You need to find out if the leak is internal or external to the engine. There is a tool called a Radiator pressure checker and it works similar to a bicycle pump. Special fittings replace the radiator cap and you observe the pressure rating of the system when you add pressure.

If the leak is significant this test will spill the antifreeze from the leak. In difficult cases, an additive leak detection chemical can be added to detect a leak with an UV light.

If not successful you will need to pressurize the system and observe for pressure drop. This would mean the leak is internal like a bad head gasket. At best, you can diagnose which side (bank) of the engine needs to have its head gasket replaced by removing the spark plugs and cranking the engine to spray out the antifreeze from the problem cylinder. Again, a chemical dye and UV light would be helpful.

Anitfreeze leak

Several ways to test this. There are additives which glow and can be seen with small battery operated UV light. The additive is used in Radiator, then car is driven, parked and light is shown under the hood.
Another way, with or without glow additive, is to borrow a Radiator pressure tester. Similar to a bicycle pump, the device is attached to the car and pumped to a recommended pressure. This can be done on a warm or cold engine. Pressure makes leak worse and may help you find it.

I have a Maytag dehumidifier M7DH45B2A, and want to connect a drain hose, as opposed to using the bucket as we always have. What kind of hose, and do I just remove the bucket and hook up to the same...

Unless it can be 100% gravity feed (1 inch drop per foot) you might need this:

Part: WPL8212501
Fits Maytag M7DH45B2A 496719-1.jpg (Click images to Enlarge)

Description:

Pump-drain

No. in Pack:

1

Additional info:

Dehumidifier pump assembly conveniently attaches the pump kit to you dehumidifier. connect a run hose to a nearby sink, pump, or floor drain. this pump will push water through a hose to up to 18 vertical feet for drainage through a window.
Stock Status: In Stock

Price:

$107.79 - addtocart.gif
This part is also known as:
8212501

If you can gravity feed it and can get a hose around the output pipe then any flexible hose will work that is slightly larger than the output pipe.

How do you check for a leak in the Ac system in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?

You will need to inject a uv dye into the ac system with the freon, then look for the leak, you will have to wait, most likely until the ac starts showing signs that it is low, then you will need a uv light, and the glasses to find the leak, the red dye that is sold for this does not show up.

Missing a owners manual for a Garden Treasures biological filter

I have the manual, and I can scan it as PDF, but dunno how to send it to you.  I guess this site won't want us to post email. The Canister is very easy to use, just DO NOT remove the metal tension seal ring.  To prep it, you first have to remove the 4+1 top screws; remove the top part (be careful do not pry the clear plastic cover off, that should stay intact); plug the UV in its socket and carefully insert the UV light into the center chamber; reassemble the top with 4+1 screws; attach the two cone-shape nozzles to the "In" and "Out" of the canister, if you use 3/8" tubing for the pump, then no need to cut the nozzles, if you use 1/2" tubing, then cut the 3/8" section off, likewise for the 3/4" tubing, make sure the In and Out should have the same flow to balance the pressure inside the canister; turn the handle to "Work" plug the tube from the pump into "In" and connect the "Out" with the tube return to the pond or water fall; Turn on the water pump and plug in the UV light (use GFCI), wait 30 secs, and you should see the flow from the return tubing. Note:  use a 650+ gph bump at least; DO NOT submerge the canister in the water; put the canister on an even surface; cover the canister against rain and moisture.  My 800-gallon "green" pond clears up in 7-days. Good luck!

Lens Protection Size!!!

Get a CLA-1 lens tube. It screws into the camera body. The other end accepts 43mm accessories. Put on a 43-49mm step-up ring. Into that screw a 49mm UV filter. (The step-up ring is needed to separate the filter from the extended lens.) Leave the UV filter on at all times. Throw away the lens cap.
