Hi My Lenovo G560 is behaving strangely offlate. The LAN always shows disconnected. This happens with internet at my place as well as my friends place. And when I took the laptop to Lenova service center...

That is odd.

First thing I'd do is try another ethernet cable. Then I'd try connecting to somewhere other than your house - that will tell you if it's your laptop or your home.

I have had windows update kill my wired connection after a driver update. Obvious things to check - make sure your LAN connection is set to enabled and to dhcp.

It could be that your MAC address has been blocked by your ISP, but if wireless works and your friends, not likely.

at a command prompt, and connected only via wired, type ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew and if any errors.

I want to share an HP 7760 on an XP with Win 7

To get ahead of myself and answer your question first, your Win 7 machine may automatically load a driver for your shared printer.

Please have a look at the procedure below: (these instructions assume that your XP machine is sharing the HP printer and that your Win 7 laptop can "see" your network and the shared printer connected to your XP desktop computer)

On the Win7 machine, follow these steps:

1) In "Control Panel" click "Add local printer"
2) Create New Port > Local port
3) Port Name is "\\xpcomputername\printername" - without the quotes

(insert the XP's real network name and your printer's real name in the above location)

4) Click <OK>

5) Windows 7 should automatically load a driver allowing you to print on the HP connected to the XP from the Win7 laptop.

I hope this helps!

Epson TM 88II not working with Win XP SP2

Are you confident this is using a parallel interface?

The ones I used to work with used a 25pin to 9pin serial connection. The 25 pin connection on the printer is the same as a parrallel port on a PC, but if you think of a normal parallel lead the printer should use a 'centronics' connector to conform to this. I think you may need a 25pin to 9pin serial lead which aren't very common but plenty of people should still make them.

You are correct on your deduction.
It is the USB to Parrallel adpter. They are not reliable in the XP/Vista enviroment. I have run into this several times.
