Hello, electrical hot smell from the fan area means you have a burnt fan which inturn affected other parts of the ice maker. That is the reason why the ice maker fails to start up when you plug it.
You can only fix it by replacing the fan and probably other affected areas by troubleshooting it.
There is nothing like reset.

Take care

Unit will not power on. Green light on the power cord indicates it is getting power. also tried different receptacles.

If you noticed an electrical smell (like something was overheating), you may have a compressor lockup, or a fan lock. If you know a good, and knowledgeable handyman, he should be able to troubleshoot the unit quickly. But if it is the compressor, repairs could cost as much as a new unit.

Xantrex inverter/ charger smells like burning electrical

I would call or e-mail the manufacturer of the inverter. The dealer or dealers may know the issue but likely the manufacturer will be more help.
Some devices like an inverter will have a smell in the beginning, power supplies are like that. You said that the inverter didn't get hot but smell indicates something is hot.

The 4wd on my 1988 silverado just quit working. When I select 4hi or 4lo nothing happens, no indicator light , no noise, nothing. It worked fine the day before. Any ideas?

On the front actuator it is thermal activated, that means if its colder it longer to activate,so that area need to be inspected also connection like dirt water may have interrupted the connections so check that area

When the D4 light flashes that is an indication of a problem with the transmission. You need a speed sensor located on the transmission make sure to get the electrical part ths will solve BOTH problems.

sounds like your video card or on board video is out....checking the monitor connection on a laptop is one of the first items the system checks for, and if it's out, then you wont get anything, the other problem it has the same tsymtoms your describing is the hard drive is out, and if it is, the only thing that works is the power to the fan, all other intelligence of the puter is not there, if you have another harddrive, exchange them out and see what you get, or ask a friend to use his, you just need to make sure it's the harddrive or the monitor, you'll get an answer oneway or the other, another thing you can do, smell the harddrive and check for even the slightest smell of burt hardware, then smell the internal area of laptop,or the video card, if the smell is there you'll know,it's very distinctive, there's no missin it.......hope this helps

Strong ozone-like burning smell

Sounds to me like the motherboard inside the unit is on it's way to thermal overload. This is a common problem with this particular model. You'll smell electronics burning and one day it'll quit altogether with a burst of smoke. I had this happen to me and I traced the problem back to a faulty triac (transistor-like device) that overheated and caused the circuit board and wiring harness to burn up from excessive current draw. I repaired my motherboard with a new triac ($6) and rewired the harnesses. A cooling fan on the heatsink of the board would solve this problem.
