Says no audio Device in the sound and Audio Properties. In the audio tab it reads Modem #0 Line Playback. I can't change it at all. It also says that in the voice tab.

You need to install the drivers for your audio device. to do so.
go to
1. and then
2. click on drivers and downloads and then
3. Enter your computer service tag (at the back of the tower, or the bottom of the laptop)
4. you will see the drivers for your computer
5. In the section AUDIO drivers. select the one which has driver and not the application.
6. Run it directly or save it and then run it.(As suits you)
7. Restart the computer.
8. Resolved.

Why free to download audio card??

dell support site is one of the best support sites a friend could have should you be lucky enough to have a dell desktop/tower or a pc engineer i get great dificulty with other support site's and toshiba been the worst...but thahk god for dell they do what they say on the tin as a saying...anyway it's free by default and is there to make your system and drivers up to may call it good will by dell or any other support site but they pretty are much duty bound to support there own product's...which is only right as they made a profit in the first place selling the product so it only make's common decentcy

Sound card doesnot install

do you get any error message, please double check your device manager and make sure you are installing the correct driver, you can try to go to click on drivers and downloads and make sure to enter your service tag, that is the 7 alphanumeric characters found on your tower. in that way you will be able to know if that is the correct driver.

Which sound card i need to instal

Here is a link to a diagram of the Optiplex GX 270 system board:

You need a sound card that has a PCI interface. On a Small Form-Factor board it goes into slot 10. On a Small Desktop system board it would install into the “riser board” which in turn is installed into slot 10. On a Small Mini-Tower system board the sound card would be installed into any available slot marked as 11.

Sound driver

I think you'll find your driver at the address below. It can only be the D530 Convertible Mini-Tower.
