Hello,
The problem is quite solvable but will need an experience hand to handle the phone, the problem is the key pad on your blackberry phone, you will need to clean the phone keypad panel because most likely there are moist on the keypad panel that is why is respond wrongly.
Get a torx 6 screw driver by your side, power off the phone, remove the battery and sim card, keep them in a safe place, slide your phone over, remove the front case on your phone, removing the front case will give you access to the screws that secure the keypad, use the torx6 screw driver to unscrew all the screw on the front panel that secure the keypad panel, after this, remove and clean the panel with a clean and dry tissue, after cleaning, you will still need to subject the panel to very light temperature of hotness, i mean minimum light temperature to dry the panel for like 20-30 minutes.
After the panel as been dry with heat, couple back the phone, insert the sim and battery and power on, the keypad should respond normal with this.
To solve the freezing problem, i advice you reset the phone by doing hard reset, this way, you are not losing any data or information on the phone, to reset the phone, power off and power on back after few minutes, while the phone is loading or booting, pull out the battery on the phone, and fix back after some minutes, this way, you have hard reset the phone and this should fix the freezing problem.
Take care.
For water logged or similar phone, we only need to take it apart and clean all the components with soft brush dipped in IPA solution (chemical solution used in cleaning Printed Circuit Board) or Acetone. It's important to leave in the sun or in front of heater [should not be too near] or below the fan to make all the components completely dry. We use Blower (a machine which is used to dry and to solder the tiny components on the printed circuit board) to do this job,
Without IPA or Acetone, it'll not be able to dry up itself since the moisture or water must have gone inside the feet of IC's. You'll never be able to clean the ics' feet since they are very tiny and the spaces between are very small.
But you can try with the steps I've mentioned in the first para. That'll help you. If you can and if possible, please take it to a mobile repairing shop and ask them to clean it for you, that's the best and since they are professional, they will do it for you within 30 minutes. If you do it yourself, you'll need screw drivers and those solutions and brushes etc.. I wish you good luck, and it's safer to keep it off and without battery installed.
Once again Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
Sorry, you must disassemble it completely, otherwise you'll not be able to clean it thoroughly. It's already wet when the pizza box was placed on it. The vapor would have definitely came inside the components of the phone.
Thanks. Any idea who would be able to clean the phone? My hunch is I'd make it worse. I prefer not to send it out to the phone company since it will take 2 weeks and they'll charge a fortune.
I live in Toronto, Canada.
Could the geek squad at Best Buy clean it to get the water out?
I am sorry, I have no idea about your location, i am in india :-)..... It'll be very good if you know any mobile repairing shop near your place, that's the only thing i can suggest, Service centers have many pendings, so I don't recommend.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, what causes it to occassionally type in weird letter sequences is because where you kept the phone. There is a solution for it.
The case of the phone has suppressed the phone and the keypad are stife. will need to be released so that the phone can work normal. Buttons are jamming
What to do, Get a screw driver and loosen the case a little bit. Adjust the case properly and screw it back, but not too tight.
And that will do.
Take care.
It seems to be screwed on ok. But the biggest issue is that when I click on a button to select an application it either doesn't work or more often just freezes. Also the issue with the weird letters happens periodically - sometimes it's ok and sometimes it's not. Until I put the pizza box on it it was working perfectly. Also now I hear some jiggling with the phone - I'm wondering if a grain of rice got in there from when I put it in the bag of rice.
Hi,you know what, i will give you things to look out for, First,
freezing and Numbers malfunctioning, and taking it for servicing.
But first use this link to reset ( fixya.com/support/r4115217-reset_blackberry).
Secondly,
FREEZING OF PHONE
when a phone randomly freezes, it means that the phones memory is faulty or when an application you downloaded has virus.
What to do is this,
You will have to flash the phone to restore the memory of the phone.
You can use this link to see how to flash your phone.
hubpages.com/hub/How-to-Flash-your-cell-phone
and
unlocktotalk.com/UnlockCodeInstructions.htm.
What causes numbers tomalfunction that way,it is been controlled by an IC inside the phone, when the IC is been replaced it will stop malfunctioning.( require phone technician).
Note:phone acts that way sometimes.
Take care.
Thank you Lord for helping my brother out. Hope your enjoying your phone now.
Take care.

I loosened the case and tightened it back up - it made no difference. The issue seems to be with the sensor? between the keys/trackball and the device itself. I can scroll no problem and click sometimes/sometimes not but more often as I'm typing in something it freezes up after a few letters and then as it goes into sleep mode I can't do anything with it and have to take out the battery and reboot. It seems the 2 keys that are causing the most issues are the "m" and the "e" keys.
Ok let me go through this again.
1- I never got the phone wet. I accidentally put a pizza box on it for about 10 seconds before I took it off.
2- The phone works and then doesn't work. Sometimes the buttons are fine and sometimes they aren't.
3- The biggest issue is that I can scroll but not select. For example I can scroll to the IM application but when I click it one of 2 things happens:
- first it either freezes and won't allow me to open the application OR
- I can start typing in my password and on about the 4th letter it freezes and then puts itself in sleep mode. Occassionally it comes back on without me having to reboot.
4 - At times the letters are wrong. So if I type "e" it may sometimes come up as "e" or it may come up as "md" or ">3" etc.
What I've tried:
1- Put it in a bag of rice at the suggestion of the cell phone company. It didn't help - just got some rice in the phone. It never got wet per se.
2- Loosened the screws on the back of the phone a bit and adjusted the plate - didn't help.
The phone worked perfectly until I put the pizza box on it getting me to think the heat from the box somehow messed things up.
Any other help that addresses the issues would be appreciated.
I'm not sure the reason but the phone came back to life. It has been error free now for 18 hours and I'm having none of the problems I was experiencing before.
Thanks for all your help.
