Yeah , the coil patern of most chest freezers run the evaperaton loop around the top of the freezer down about 6 to 8 inches to start the frost patern, knowing that cold air falls it then works down and cools the rest of the freezer and its contents hope this fixed your problem

Have a second hand Homemaker chest freezer model hmbd155....recently noticed fluid around the floor....? Leaking..don't have a manual and noticed a dial on the bottom left hand corner .What this do..?

The dial Adjusts the temperature. If it is adjusted too cold you might have ice build up underneath the freezer thus causing the fluid that you see. As the freezer is old it can also be that the insulation underneath is a bit old causing the ice build up and fluid leakage. A broken thermostat (dial) will also cause too low temperature inside and possible ice build/fluid leakage.

Water in refridgerator

Have a look inside fridge compartment (especially the "roof", if it's a top-mount freezer) & see if you can see any ice build-up (look inside vents that allow cold air into fridge from freezer section. Also, if top-mount freezer, look inside the freezer compartment for ice build-up on "floor", inside vents, or on back wall. These symptoms, combined with water dripping from lots of the "roof" of fridge section (in a top-mount freezer model), can mean several different problems, so best to re-post with more info/symptoms included.
If there's no ice build-up (& the dividing area between fridge & freezer sections isn't particularly cold, which otherwise might indicate hidden ice build-up), it can be as simple as a plugged or obstructed drain tube, which is VERY COMMON. Easiest solution for this latter problem is to use a flexible plastic tube (think similar type as attached to aquarium air pumps), stuff it into drain hole, and blow on the other end. Sometimes you have to blow quite hard to clear an obstruction or complete blockage. If you can't clear the drain tube, it's likely a different problem. Again, a re-post with more info/symptoms will help narrow it down.

I have a woods chest style deep freeze and the lid is very cold on the outside, but the sides are room temperature and the freezer works fine. Why is the lid cold and how can I fix it

Yes, the freezer temperature means the lid gets very cold. Every time you open it some moisture condenses in the lid and the outside ambient also affects it. The insulation may be beginning to break down and the ice is forming inside. It is not a major problem however and many freezers go on for years with freezing lids!

Ice crystals forming on inside front freezer panel

Very possible the door seal is not properly sealed. Warm inflowing air onto a cold coil will cause ice build up at the lid.

Freezer is not cold and ice is building up on the bottom back

Since this model is frost free and u are finding ice in the bottom back the problem may be due to either or both of these:
  • Low refrigerant coolant gas(freon/CF4)
  • The fan & heater *** blower assembly could have malfunctioned. To check put ur hand near the outlet of the bower outlet to feel if the fan is operational.
This may be the first things to check and post ur reply as comment for us to help find the exact problem..........................sodeep

Whirlpool Refrigerator fresh food section cool but not cold (freezer ok).

The most likely problem is in the defrost system. Behind the freezer panel there is not only an evaporator fan, but also the evaporator itself, and a defrost heater, termination bi-metal, and drain pan (or trough). You will likely find ice build-up in the evap coil. This could be caused by the defrost timer, the heater, or the termination bi-metal.
Have a service tech look at the unit.

I keep having frost and ice build up in the upper corners of teh freezer. It will make it difficult soon to slide the doors open. What could be the problem?

Any freezer without automatic defrosting will build this up over time but a poor gasket seal between lid and chest can accelerate the buildup of frost.
If you want to check the quality of the seal, you could use food coloring (I'd choose green or blue) in water, add a drop of dish detergent and apply this mix to the sealing surface of the chest. Closing the lid gently and then reopening it, you may be able to see if the contact between sealing surfaces is as it should be.
The mixture will wipe off easily with a clean cloth or paper towel.

Door liner on chest freezer broke due to ice build-up

if you can't find a replacement, use a piece of flat vinyl siding that goes on houses. You can heat it and bend it as needed, or cut it and screw the pieces to a balsa wood frame for lightweight support. Glue or epoxy probably won't work as the cold temps make them brittle but external caulking may be ok to hold the pieces together. Be sure to sand all edges and corners as the cut plastic can be sharp. If you can disassemble the unit and place the door face down, you can fill the cavity with insulating foam to help stabilize it.
