Is there anywhere to get a restore disk for this laptop for free. I was doing updates and now windows will not load and I did not make a restore disk before hand.

I have never been able to find free restore discs, but you could download a copy of windows from a torrent site, and use your own serial key on the COA sticker on the base of your laptop.
Then pop over to toshiba and download your drivers
If you do it this way make sure you download the same verion (basic, home or premium)

Did you do ALL your windows update before the Service Pack? That SP has been out for years? Doesn't your laptop have Windows Updates set to Auto? Choose one or the other, Vista or Win 7 and do a Full Install.

Did you restore from a set of CD-ROM disks?

One of the disks should have the device-drivers for the Samung-specific software.

Or, access: http://WindowsUpdate.Microsoft.com and choose "custom" scan.
Then, after the scan, choose "optional hardware updates", to see if Windows Update
will offer device-drivers for the hardware.

Im George. I have a hp dv6700 pc hp Pavilion Entertainmen pc. i upgraded to windows7 and i just fine out that there are 5-drivers missing. can you help me fine them???

You need to update the five devices to drivers which support Win 7.0

Windows may do this automatically by using the Windows Update icon.

If not, right click on 'computer' icon.

Properties

Device manager

Click on the devices that are showing elerts.

Right click and select 'update driver'

Ensure you are connected to the Internet in each case.

Some devices may not support Win 7.0 yet.

I want to reset it

Unlike other laptops, Acer laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer laptop to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer laptop to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your laptop data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

Need to restore my laptop from factory

In order to do this you need to order teh restore disks from the Manufacturer. This is usually not free. Sometimes the Laptop has a restore sector. That is nice.

You should take it to a qulaified local repair technician if you do not have the disk. It is not required to load WINDOWS on the laptop.

Do you have a windows restore disk? If you load this you should be able to restore windows to its original state. It will be a rstore cd rather than a windows cd.

Slow performance caused by unnecessary programs???

If your computer is running really slow, have you thought about cleaning it with windows disk cleaner? If your computer is otherwise working normally and you haven't loaded any programs that your want within the last couple of days you can also clean up your restore points and save loads of disk space. To do this go to Start>programs>accessories>system tools> Disk cleanup and tick the boxes that you want to clean for example tempory files etc then click on the tab that says more options and clean up system restore, it will still keep your most recent restore point. It will ask you if you are sure that you want to do this, click ok or yes. If you haven't done this before it may take a long time to open while it is compressing old files and determine how much space you will gain. But be patient, the longer it takes, the more space you gain because it is locating files that can be deleted. I hope this helps.

Toshiba Laptop crashing

Hi vfcork4al67, did your notebook come with restore cd's or a windows cd? If yes load your restore cd or windows cd into the cdrom drive. Boot the notebook. The notebook should go to the cdrom & start to load the cd. Follow the on screen instructions if you booted to the restore cd & re-install the operating system. This will over write windows & repair windows files. If your not using a restore cd but do have a windows cd repeat the same instruction above as if it were the restore cd.
I'll post a link for your Toshiba Satellite a100 notebook but there are many A100's. You will need to find the correct notebook you have. Click the link below & find your notebook.
http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/afin.to?stt1=Notebook%20PCs&stt2=Satellite

Once you find the corect A100 download the network card driver. You will need this to enable you to get online & download all the updated drivers for your notebook. I suggest you update windows asap. Many drivers & software installs need many window updated files in order to function correctly. Turn on windows firewall to help protect you while downloading & untill you install virus protection. Need some free virus protection. Click the link below & download & install AVG.
