Question about Poseidon Odin/Jetstream Regulator

2 Answers

My reg simply free flows when connected to the tank. Its the first time it has ever done this. Is this an easy fix, or should I start to worry? the thing is this reg is at least 10 years old so I don't know if I should even bother taking it to a scuba shop for service because I doubt they will even want to work on it

Turn the regulator mouthpiece down
Blow air back into regulator
Make sure the sensitivity slide is toward the edge of the regulator
Turn the gas on quickly when the rig is mounted. Turning on slowly results in free flow

Posidons are one of the best regs in the world and their design has not changed over the years. I have a jetstream Reg and octo and they are both over 15 years old ( they were used when I bought them) and I have not found one Scuba shop that has turned round to me and said "buy a new set" I normally get "these are the best regs I bet you are glad you have them. So go and get itt serviced and be amongst the "Elite" Jetsteam owners

you could login to alldata.com and answer their questions
and see filter. under fuel systems.

The fuel filters on injected engines are a metal cylinder which is located in the engine compartment. You may find it under the injection manifold on some models. Each model varies.

what i do, , i look at the fuel regulator on the engine fuel rail. Set it?
see that vacuum line?
then see the rail and the other line (large line, not vacuum)
there are 2 hard lines, the reg line is RETURN
the other end of RAIL is tank pump line, this goes to a filter,
fuel flows from tank to rail to reg then back to tank.
the tank line is the filtered line.

other cars....
the only filters are in the fuel tank and some 10 micron screens in the injectors.
i never worry all this , i just look and find it...
or if really worried, out comes the FSM. its in there, i promise.

my book shows a funny fuel filter near the firewall.

The wire connector for alternator-reg/rectifier is gone wires are y how do i connect them corectly

If you bought the bike used this may have been a fix that someone else did previously. Some of the 90 model hondas didn't run a large enough gauge wire from the stator (alternator) to the regulator. It caused the connection to melt and the wires to burn. The easy fix (and I've done this myself) was to take the connector off and just fuse those wires together. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're having a problem with the bike.

Can u give this crossfire low pressure

From the picture you supply, that's not adjustable. A lot of those regs are fixed by a specific spring set inside and do not have an external adjustment. They were designed to be simple and reliable in that fashion.

Now.. you CAN buy another reg that will fit the tank. You can find many online, even eBay, but pay close attention to what pressure range the reg will handle, as well as the output pressure. You can find others that are fixed, but different output pressure, or an adjustable one (which will likely be more expensive) if you're trying to get it lower than it normally is.

The user guide for that reg will tell you the expected output pressure. If it's not performing within those specs, you should either take it to a reputable airsmith or in most cases you can send it in to Crossfire and if it's a physical (warranty) problem they may very well fix it for free. If it's been a while they may tell you up front that it'll be $xxx for a rebuild but afterwards it should be like new and ready to rock and roll for a long time.

As a master airsmith myself. I have various spring kits for some of these regs that the manufacturer allows to have done outside the factory, so you may check with an airsmith in your area and compare prices with them versus sending it in, but make sure the airsmith is dependable and will guarantee the initial repair, otherwise I'd play it safe and send it to the manufacturer for the max in confidence.

Good luck! Play hard, play safe, play with honor! 8^)

3 weeks ago I had my coleman 5000 generator in to be fixed. The man flushed the gas tank, replaced the carb, did a tune up,changed the spark plug, and did an oil change. When I went out to start it a few...

You got spark & compression
The air filter is not an issue
You got clean fuel
You got oil and the machine is not freezing
Sounds like the exhaust port is open and free

Fuel is the only suspect remaining

Pull off the fuel line and see if gas flows to carburetor.
Pull off gas filter and see if gas flows free
Try some gum out

Now here's something we discovered.
Our machine wouldn't run on full throttle.
We had to set it at half throttle, and it ran like a top for years.

Try messing with the throttle settings to find a setting that works.
Finally, if none of the above work, it must be the carburetor.

The regulator is free flowing the opupus is also free flowing . They are Magnum blizzard by sherwood

Your regulator requires servicing as this problem could be caused by either excessive pressure in the LP line to your Reg or the valve in the reg has become defective.

Regulator free flows

A well tuned reg will easily freeflow. Try holding the mouthpiece downward and SLOWLY rotating to fill the 2nd stage with water.
If that does not stop the freeflow and/or if the 2nd bubbles even with the mouthpiece held downward, the you need to get the reg serviced.

Twin tank Thomas Air-Pac 1.5 HP compressor but only one tank fill

THE GAUGE ON THE REGULATOR ONLY READS WHAT THE PRESSURE IS REGULATED TO NOT WHAT IS IN THE TANK. ITS VERY LIKELY YOUR REGULATOR IS BAD OR TURNED DOWN ALL THE WAY. YOU COULD EVEN HAVE YOUR QUICK CONNECT CLOGGED ON THE END OF THE AIR HOSE. MY MONEY IS ON THE REGULATOR THOUGH. TRY ADJUSTING THE REG. UP ALL THE WAY. IF THAT DOESNT WORK THEN DRAIN YOUR TANK TO ZERO, REMOVE THE REG. AND THEN TRY IT. REG. HAVE FLOW DIRECTION SO PAY ATTENTION TO THE ARROW WHEN INSTALLING. HOPE THIS HELPS, JODY

Cressi sub ellipse titanium reg is free flowing

Hi. I would suggest having the internal o-rings checked. One of them could be worn, allowing the air to escape. Or put it into your local dive shop for a service.

Mares Abyss Octo, brand new, not breathing well

It's possible that the perceived free flow problem is causing a more general lack of faith with the reg?
A correctly set up reg will never be too far away from free flowing in that transition from air to water - just as you dive in. This is not uncommon and shouldn't necessarily be determined to be a fault. Some manufacturers have gotten around this issue by allowing the user to switch the 2nd stage to a less sensitive setting (small knob on side 'pre-drive' & 'dive'). This means the reg can still be set up correctly but effectively put into an incorrect (for diving) mode while you are bobbing around on the surface getting ready to go down.
The fact that the abyss doesn't have this mode doesn't mean it isn't working right. If your shop adjust the sensitivity too far, they are going to make it harder to breath with. I have a couple of Abyss and sometimes experience small free flow. Nothing to worry about. You can look it up but the reg has been down to some record breaking depths without issue.
You haven't said which is your main reg - but the poseidon system runs a much higher pressure between 1st and second stage. You absolutely should not use this octo with poseidon, unless it has been ok'd by a authorized poseidon dealership.
In summary I can't see that your two problems are linked.
