-   I've tried DVD+RW -RW no luck, have used Verbetim disks and Magnavox/Funai Corp is no help. I emailed the TV program to see if they are adding some signal to their broadcast to active this they say no. They didn't know anyone short of movie channels that might be doing it. They were not sure even the movie channels were doing it. But why won't my VCR tape of tv channels NOT dub to RWs? They said I was trying to copy prohibited stuff. I said I could dub on another machine, they didn't seem too interested either way. Look at it like this, they got our money, we got a doorstop. I'm thinking of filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau. -   Guest

-   I am having the same problem. I have purchased DVD-RW discs and DVD+R discs and neither works. Also, I contacted support services and they said my vcr tapes are copy protected. I replied, they are home movies I am trying to copy (and the copy protect tab is still in tact). They suggested I purchase a different type of DVD disc. Did you ever get this problem figured out? I purchased the more expensive DVD/VCR player as I thought it would be cheaper than paying $10/tape to pay someone to convert them for me.-   Guest

-   Same with my Magnanox DVD recorder, so far appears restricted to the Encore/Starz channels on Cable, Comcast/Time Warner. Cable company and Magnavox said same thing, Encore is somehow copy prohibiting it to keep you from selling the movie for profit? Who does that with the old junk they have on those channels? Said nothing can be done about it.

Just set the channel to a non-premium channel (ABC, CBS, PBS, etc.) before starting the dubbing process.

Had same problem using Maxell DVD+R. Tried Sony DVD+R same problem tried Sony DVD-R records.

Now if I can just get it to Dub instead of record TV in when I want it to dub VHS-DVD. Followed instructions to the T and wasted discs.

Try unplugging it for one half hour. Before you plug it back in, on the remote, push and hold the stand-button for 30 seconds. Now plug it in and see if it will record. Also, be sure you have the "make compatible" option set for OFF. This worked briefly for me. Bought the same model and now am having the same trouble.

Yes I have the same problem and have been working with it for several days. Explanation of the E-45 code is found on page 43 of the owners manual. It indicates that the program you are attempting to record is "Copy Prohibited". I have been told that somehow the show you are about
to record is protected from reproduction to a DVD. However this same program can be copied to a VCR tape without any problem. Which means in short, I should have invested the additional money to purchase the machine which could copy a VCR tape to a DVD disc.
