I heared a rattle inside so I opened it up. Vr7 adjustment screw had came off. I'm not able to fix it correctly right now. Is there a way to bypass for the time being?

The vr7 is for the gain to the mic, if the adjustable resistor is ok then leave it as is.
Actually when you transmit it changes channel from 19 to 18 - or the indicator falsely thinks that. If this behaviour happens whatever the modulation (AM or SSB) that signals an internal fault - the cb must be inspected by an authorized repairman.

A loose screw would tell me that it wasn't put together right in the first place.

Is it within the 2 year warranty period?

You shouldn't have to mess around with the inside of it.

You shouldn't have to put a screw in. Let the factory service do it if it's too small to work with.

Loose screws are not a good sign for electronic equipment.

    Good luck to you.

Is it best to use in am mode in normal trasmitions on a cb radio dx 959 galaxy?

  • This Galaxy was built as a CB to run on AM (11 Meter). The majority of people on the CB run AM stations. Sideband (upper and lower) is where the carrier is removed and the wave being transmitted on is cut in half. You can do this just fine but mainly if you want to talk to someone and you both know your going to be on Sideband for a little privacy. 38 LSB is a great channel to catch some DX side band on world wide. But yea, AM is the best to find people to chat with.

go to you tube and type in your radio make and model and watch the review on that radio there is a freq adjustment pod for ssb adjustment. they might tell you if not take it to a radio tech and he should be able to alighn it. there is more than one pod for ssb transmitt and receive.

Refurbished dx 959 from galaxy no modulation? no transmitt?

If there is no transmit at all, it sounds like it wasn't fully refurbished. If it is just low modulation then just turn VR16 and VR14 all the way to the left.

If its not working at all, send it back. It hasn't been refurbished.
