It probably is one of 2 things. The battery shorted out or it actually caused water damage later on that night. Downside to apple products is you cant remove the battery when they get wet almost guaranteeing damage. Best thing to do is to send it to a repair center such as this one. They guarantee there work and can fix about any problem that could have arised, but even if you just got it and it may be under warranty apple doesnt cover water damage.

Ok so i have an ipod touch 3rd gen. 32gb. and i dropped it in water, it worked for a while and the brightness dimmed out and could barely see anything! and i was like all freaking out and when i put it in...

Well all may not be lost.
First off, I do have to say, if this ever happens again, DO NOT hairdry it. It might just further damage your iPod because of the extreme heat.
Instead, do what I will tell you to do now.
With any electronic item that you might have accidentally dropped into the water, place it into a container full of rice and bury it. The rice will naturally try to soak out all the water in the device. It might need a day or two, but after that, it should start working.
Since your aunt hairdryed it, it is possible that you really did damage it. Try the rice method first. If it doesnt work, then go to the Apple Store and try to get it repaired by them. If they refuse, you can give them your old one and buy a new one with a 10% discount.

I washed and dried my ipod touch. It was in a ipod sock and zipped in a fleece vest pocket. What do I do. It still has water under the glass.

leave it alone for a few days to weeks to let it dry and dont try and turn it on untill your 100% sure that all the water is out of it and completely dry and you might have a chance of it still working

I dropped my ipod touch 1st generation and now it won't turn on. Ive tried restoring it in I tunes but it wont restore, i have seen a faint apple logo in the middle of the touch screen but thats it! - help

Your fu..ed cause these ipod touches are fragile and don't like falling and crashing to the ground.  I would suggest you purchase an In Case cover next time.
Chalk this thing up as a loss since it is out of warranty and buy you a 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen ipod touch.
If your a cheap bastard, then you can pay someone to crack this thing open and fix it for you, but the time involved might prove costly compared to getting a new unit.  Were such a throw away society now a days.

I dropped my ipod touch in the sink and it now it doesn't work

to fix this, you're going to need your ipod, a plastic zip-lock bag, and uncooked rice. first, open the bag and fill it halfway with uncooked rice. then put your ipod in the middle of it all. then zip the bag and let it sit for about a day. the rice should have absorbed all the water by then. most of the times, this will work. but sometimes, the ipod is damaged beyond repair by the water. good luck
hope this helps ;-)
