I have a similar problem. My video camera stopped playing the tapes (an issue I am still trying to figure out without spending lots of money), so we used a different camera to play the videos, but now all we get is a snow storm on the screen and a static noise for sound. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be great!

How do you extract audio from Maxell Hi8 tape?

easy: locate a local audio/video transfer place or videography studio that you can hand these off to. Request mp3 format on CD as the mode of delivery. Usually they have the equipment needed and it isn't very expensive. Some will even clean up the sound for you.
Slightly more difficult: locate a hi-8 player, buy a $30 conversion cable that goes from the hi-8 camera or hi-8 deck to your computer (type of cable will depend on the type of camera you get and type of computer you have), download video editing software and capture the tapes. Once the files are in the computer you can export as mp3 and burn a disc.

I tried to see the 8mm tape video (recorded 10 years ago- my wedding party) but I couldn,t see anything!! I wondering if the tape needs cleaning ? or that is the reason?

Sometimes that happens...just keep fast forwarding and rewinding and playing and it'll usually eventually sync up.
Once it does, record it onto some other media while it's still working.

How to remove a tape from the adapter? (I just found it from years and years ago)

Use the manual wind beneath the adapter to wind off the VHS-C into the shell. If this is the motorised type also there is provision to wheel inthe tape manually. Once it goes back in the tape will eject up by itself with the wheel turned
If not remove the screws of the adapter-5-6 screws and open to release.

I RECORDED OFF OF TV ON A BRAND NEW 8 HOUR VHS TAPE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND NEVER PLAYED IT SINCE... TODAY I PUT THE TAPE IN AND THE VCR SHUTS DOWN... WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON, THE DISPLAY SHOWS "EJECT T"......

Well, it's always good to know the exact cause. Your post may help others. I deal in media issues all the time in the data processing world. Though not always the cause, it is unwise to at least examine the media when the hardware won't load it, and try others to certify the hardware functionality.

If your tape isn't actually broken why don't you try loading it and immediately fast-forwarding it past the defect? It should load fine a couple of feet into the tape. You may miss the beginning of your program but it won't be a total loss.

No more audio

Have you tried this tape in another machine? Your audio and video heads could be getting clogged. A head cleaning tape may fix it or you may need to have them hand cleaned.
If the tape has been stored where it is potentially warm and humid the tape could have degraded.
Unfortunately even the best quality tapes will eventually degrade as the oxide is slowly removed with every pass of the heads.
If a head clean on your player doesn't work, the best way to attempt to retain those memories is to take it to a professional video duplication place and have it transferred to DVD

I need help, Please!!!!!

the only thing I can suggest is look at the tape( open the tape door). Is there a line or crease on the tape?? yes ?? not a thing can be done unless you wanna send the tape out to a studio and have them ride the tape path untill the tape plays through., if it dosent look creased then Sorry to say that the tape path post are probably loose in the tape path section of the camcorder. Have it looked at before it gets worse. Hope its the first thing I said. Good luck
