Remote frozen - Philips 42PFL5332D 42 in. LCD Television

While the set is on, pull the power plug. Then hold and depress the power button in for about a minute. Then replug set and turn it back on. If that does not reset the tv then you do indeed have a serious issue with the set.

Just contininue to try that it if not then you'll have to do a hard reset.

If the battery is dead there is a guy on ebay that replaces them. He fixed my remote.

I suggest starting the software and updating the settings...

1. Launch the Harmony software on your computer.
2. Click 'Update Remote'

Unplug,replug to reboot,reset to factory setting.

I have taken the batteries out and put them in backwards, taken them back out and put them in correctly. Then I reprogrammed the remote. This usually works, although I wouldn't put it on the "recommended" fixes shelf. But you might want to give it a try.

Hi. You will need to update the firmware.

1. In the software, click "Downloads"
2. Click on "Firmware."
3. Update the remote

That should fix it!

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.
