I have a new gateway laptop with windows 7 and today it said plugged in not charging 8%. I tried everything and nothing worked so I turned it off and unplugged it and took the battery out and put it back in and it started charging...hopefully this works.
First, make sure that the type of card that you bought is compatible with the slot. Your presario can use Type I or II standard PC or PCMCIA cards. If the linksys adapter that you bought is not a PC/PCMCIA card, rather an ExpressCard, it really won't fit.
Check out this page and click on the bottom tab. You'll see some sections outlined in red. Note that one of them says "Memory and Wireless Module Cover". That would be where the mini-PCI card would be.
Some of the Dell laptops actually tell you how to remove the mini-PCI card in the user manual, but the manual of this Toshiba (found online) just says "don't do it". It's not that hard, but ifyou haven't done it before, I'd recommend you take it to a pro.
