Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player

Playing compatability i'm trying to find out about playing compatability of homemade dvd s i have a disc my child's class made for me last year and it will play just fine on my tv/dvd player i have another that will not play is there a difference in the discs they were burnt on? what should i look for to make sure a disc is compatable with my player?

It is the dvd, it is the brand of dvd that is the problem. then sometime it could be how they copied the movie or what have you nothing is wron with the player it self

Look very closely at that DVD, Richard. Look for fingerprints or scarring near the transparent center section - DVD recording always starts in the middle and progresses outward, the opposite of vinyl records.

Won't play DVD's but will play CDs


I suggests to try another dvd dics maybe it is not compatible to your player. try universal dvd dics...

Cannot read disc


Had the same type of problem; I called Magnavox on this one. These DVD players aren't "guaranteed" to be able to read discs that were "burned"/homemade. They're only "guaranteed" to play commerically produced DVDs. If you're trying to play something that you made it probably isn't going to work.

Video freezes


my dvd player does this (its a diff make n model from ur's ) i've found its the discs that it doesnt like, i had to go thru many diff brands of disc b4 i found 1's it will play without problems, hope this helps

I imagine you have checked the disk for scratches top and bottom, if so you can purchase a cd/dvd lens cleaner cdrom as the laser may need realigning and cleaning.

Toshiba disc error


Check formatted disc see if it's +R,-R and see if Toshiba will play homemade disk or just disc recorded in different format.

hi try this: a can of compressed air a narrow hose open the discs drawer try to locate the laser eye with some light and clean it if this wont work its not a teamate no more good luck
