Maytag Washer Neptune front loading does not do the MAX EXTRACT
I have the Model number: MAH4000AWW from 1999.
First I want to say: I'm happy with Maytag and I thank you for your time and help.
My machine is not working well because it was exposend to 220 V (I used to live in the States but I moved to Peru), the electric convertor I got was defective and didn't convert 220 V to 110V.
I'm a female, I don't know much about fixing things like this, but now I have to learn because we don't have Maytag experts in Peru.
The machine washes good, I opened the back side and I see it moves, the clothes are clean, but in the end doesn't drain all the water, before I used to hear a big noise in the final spin when I was able to use the MAX EXTRACT BUTTON, but now is quiet and will NOT reach top spin speed. I noticed also that the DOOR LOCKED LIGHT does NOT comes on.
I opened the back side of the machine and noticed that many parts are labeled 120-225 V but two parts down in the pump and recirculation pump are labeled just with 120V, and if I'm not wrong I heard a little noise coming from this parts when the washer starts the regular cycle.
I also have a Gas dryer (Model Number: MDG4000BWW) from 1999 that was exposed to 225 V and now doesn't heat; I was using GLP (Liquid Petroleum Gas) and it was working fine (the machine states to use Natural Gas and Propane, but here I can't find a technician who can help me with Maytag and I had to "guess" and try things.
I have a friend who's coming to visit me from North Dakota on May 5, I was "Hoping" to get information about which parts should I buy, so she can bring then to me and I can try to fix it by myself or with a help from a friend who's electrician.
Thanks very much!

MLG2000A - Maytag Neptune Super Stack SL-3
1 - Select Wash/Rinse Water Temperature
2 - Select Options (Max Extract, Extra Rinse, Signa)
3 - Select Cycle
4 - Load the Clothes Washer (add detergent on top of the load in the tub, and additives [fabric softener, bleach] in their dispensers).
5 - Start the washer.
This is according to the owner's manual I have. Has worked for 14 years for me.
two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news
If the washer is removing all of the water from the washer during the spin cycle it is likely working properly. Not an expert but I believe max extract causes the washer to spin for a slightly longer period of time in order to remove more water from the clothes. We use it regularly because our clothes come out to wet otherwise.
The max extract button will do an extra spin to get any & excess water out of the clothes. It is a good thing to keep on to help cut down on drying time. If you find standing water in the washer, it is possible the hose is NOT in the correct position.
No, I'll tell you before forking out $ $ for some bad news. The noise is your bearing. You have to replace the outer tub .Its not going to be repaired any other way.The idiots who designed this washer made this a non servicable bearing. The labor is high not to mention the outer tub is also.REPLACE THE OUTER TUB.
Why?Do you understand that the bearings are locked into the outer tub and you have to replace that, the outer tub.Very expensive repair that will most likely be almost half the price you had paid for the machine new.My advise is DONT FIX this if you have a bearing problem ,because I honestly believe in letting the customer know the truth.Sorry, but a 15 year old re- conditioned Maytag will out last any Neptune ever made.
