Use the left and right to connect the positive and negative to the respective speakers in the right and left. Please make sure of the polarity and so be cautious. next you can connect the sub woofer from the left and right channel as the amp is bridgeable. Use the lead to connect from the R- positve to L negative. test and check the phasing of the speakers, must get good low bass or else you can reverse the sub woofer and check again. If you ae having frint speakers connect accordingly the the other channel. Helpful Good day

Can this power a subwoofer and what is the rms wattage

Hello crucible19,

The Alpine MRP-F240 is a 4-channel amp that outputs 40 watts RMS per channel. It is more suited for powering normal speakers, but since it is bridgeable, you could power a small sub by bridging 2 of the channels.

Hope this helps.

Amplifier displays "CUR"

Hello anwbrown,

The "CUR" display means that the amp is drawing excessive current and the protection circuit is activating. Too low impedance or shorted speakers will cause the amp to draw excessive current.

The Alpine V12 is a Class D mono amp with only one set of speaker outputs. All versions, M301, M501, and M1001 are only stable to 2ohms. Assuming that all 6 of your connected subwoofers and speakers are 4ohm and they're all connected in parallel, the amp sees a .67 ohm load, far below it's rated impedance.

When brand new, the amp could probably operate at low to moderate volume levels without drawing excessive current. But as electronic components age, their tolerances change and they become less able to withstand excessive current or mismatched impedances.

I'd get a 4-channel amp and drive the 4" speakers off the front channels and the 6X9's off the rear channels. And just power the subs off the V12 making sure that they are connected to show a minimum load of 2ohms.

Hope this helps.

Can i bridge the 4 ch. amp to 2 chnl.

Hello bdawson,

Maybe. Some, but not all, 4-channel amps can be bridged. You'll need to provide a specific brand and model number for a more definitive response.

On many bridgeable amps, the connections are shown right on the output terminals, usually the "+" of one channel and the "-" on another channel. The connection diagram in your user manual may also show which channels are bridgeable and the appropriate connections. Some amps may support what they call "tri-mode", powering both full-range speakers and subs at the same time.

Using a multi-channel amp with the channels bridged to power subs is a compromise. While you'll get an increase in power, it usually isn't as much as you would get from a monoblock. And fine tuning for the best sound is more complicated, balancing the filters and crossover so that the correct frequencies are sent to the appropriate speaker.

Hope this helps.

4 chanel amp I dont know how to conected,to radioand one subwoofer

Hello canelo63,

Your question appears under the product listing for the Dual XPA4100 but the in the text you say the amp is actually a Jensen, so it's not possible to provide specific connection information.

But most bridgeable amps can be connected to a single subwoofer and the other two channels used to drive a set of regular speakers. I'd connect the front speakers to channels 1 and 2 and wire the subwoofer to the bridge connections of channels 3 and 4. On the XPA4100, the bridge terminals are the first (negative) terminal on channel 4 and the last (positive) terminal on channel 3.

Hope this helps.

Amplifier loads

Hello ronnieyannon,
A single 4 ohm speaker wired to each channel, like you have them wired, presents a 4 ohm load. And it appears that you have them connected properly. The 401s is only stable to 4 ohms when bridged, so if you were to parallel the 2 4 ohm subs in bridged mode, the load would be 2 ohms and the amp would most likely overheat and go into protection.

I'd wire them the way you have them wired.

Each channel of the amp outputs only 100 watts into 4 ohms. That is adequate for regular full-range speakers, component speakers, mid-range drivers, and even some small subs. But it is a little low on power for most subwoofer applications.

Hope this helps.

Power rating

If the speaker can be wired to be a safe load for the amp, it's OK.

Bridgeable vs not bridgeable

All amplifiers are bridgeable. The bridge setting is for driving a large speaker by using the power output of 2 or more channels. The power will be summed if a bridge is made.
For example, if you have a 800W, 4 channel power stage, you can connect 2 component speakers in the channels 1 and 2 and bridge the channel 3 with the 4 to drive a subwoofer.
