Question about KitchenAid (KSRD22FKST) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

KitchenAid KSCS25INSS00 I can't get my ice maker to make any ice. There is a red blinking light that blinks twice. I just bought this from a guy and it has been sitting unused in a garage for a few months. The water dispenser works but the water isn't very cold. Any suggestions?

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees. Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start. If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water. ICE MAKER NOT GETTING WATER Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It’s on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.
The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

I don't have a diagram of the lines. So I am not sure how to switch the lines as you suggest. The freezer is cold enough... I have other things frozen in it.

Ice maker will not make ice. Red light blinks

I have a kitchenaid with the same problem. Red light blinks twice when open is normal. Hold the flap down and the red light will be on.= normal= optics are working. If the ice rakes rotate, module is probably fine. Check the simplest solutions first, defrost the freezer in case the icemaker water nozzel might be frozen. That solved my problem. I then increased my freezer temp by a couple of degrees and so far, no problems.
Good luck.

Red light on ice maker blinking twice, no ice.

I would assume you are referring to the ice level sensor that is on the center divider. It is normal for it to blink if the door is open. You can test out this theory by holding the flap on the left side closed but not blocking the sensor. The light should go steady. If the ice maker is not working then you either need to change the lazer sensor or the ice maker itself.
