Hi there,

check the device manager in case that you do not see the wireless Lan card installed on the machine, under network adapters, you would need to install the drivers for he device

you can download the drivers and drivers from the below link

Try to uninstall and reinstall your Local Area Network driver by going to the device manager from the control panel. expand the network adapter and right-click your LAN then select uninstall. Restart your computer and windows will automatically reinstall your LAN driver.

I have a Dell Latitude C510 Laptop and reinstalled Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 and I don't have a wireless connection. I have a Texas Instrument PCI-1420 Cardbus Controller and a 3-Com Ethernet...

Hi,

Look at the bottom of your Dell laptop and you will find a "service tag number". Then go to dells site and chose the support tab and then enter this service number and then a list of all new updated drivers for all the items in your laptop will show up and usually at the bottom is the "wireless driver". Download this and then install it and your wireless card should be good to go then. Also check you network connections tab in the control panel and make sure you do not have the wireless card disabled for some reason. Enable it if it shows disabled.

Wireless connection problems

The model my company uses also has a physical switch, unfortunately the person in the field with the laptop is having the same problem, and I can't remember where the switch is to tell them.

Same wireless problem

Check with your laptop's manual. The wireless switch is usually hidden in a spot that makes it difficult to find, basically so that you cannot hit it by accident.
For example, a Compaq Presario R3000 has a button on the exact left hand corner of the front of the notebook, such that it cannot be seen easily, but when you push it to activate wireless, you will see a very faint light blue icon near the right front button.
On an HP laptop, the wireless button is on the bottom.

On my ACER, there is not button. It is an automatic switch between wire and wireless.

So look carefully for the switch, because if there is such a switch, it will be difficult to find. But it is most likely that there is no switch at all.

Cheers!

Bad Wireless Connection

This is usually caused by a driver glitch. From the device manager, uninstall the drivers for the wireless, then reboot. The machine will find and reinstall the drivers. If the problem persist, the take the card out, clean the connections, and reinstall it. It's located under a panel on the bottom of the machine. If it still won't work, then you need to replace the wireless card.
