Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I just purchased a New Maytag washer, Model MTW5800Two, it is the loudest washer I have ever heard. It is so loud you can hear it thru the house. I tried putting very few clothes in the largest amount of water. Still noisy. I have a Maytag dryer and love it. I am very disappointed in the washer. I do use the recommended amount of laundry detergent. Any suggestions.

This washer is built by whirlpool and is not the old maytag machine that you have been use to using, the whirlpool family of warshers are not the quietest washer on the market just the best in my opinion,
if you can live with the difference in the noise you will be happy with the wash results

If it's a roaring noise, the tub bearing is probably wearing out. Spin the tub a little with your hand, if you hear a little of the roar, that's it.

Loud washer! The last 5-7 minutes of the wash, the washer becomes very, very loud. This occurs in light loads as well as large loads. This just started about 6 weeks ago, any ideas?

My husband and I spent 4 hours Labor Day replacing the bearing and seal in my Maytag Neptune washer. Worn bearing are what is causing the loud noise. Maytag will only sell you the complete drum assembly. However, if you are mechanically inclined, you can purchase the bearings, 6206RS and 6207RS (we got ours from a local bearing company) and the seal kit can be purchased from repairclinic.com. There is a video on YouTube showing how to replace the bearings and seal. Our washer is now as quiet as it was when new!

We have a Maytag Neptune Washer Model MAH-1, approximately 5 years old. Never had any problems previously. Last wash, noticed a loud grinding sound upon starting the cycle. I stopped the wash, and...

Sounds like the spider arm(s) are broken in your machine. It is the part that supports the wash drum in the machine. It's a major repair job and can be expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing or replacing the washer.

Loud noise when in rinse cycle

Hi,
It sounds like your main bearing has gone out. It's quite an expense to fix and generally isn't worth fixing even if you do the repair yourself as the parts run about $600 by themselves and it takes about 1/2 a day to replace them. You can't replace the bearing itself so you have to replace the rear half of the outter tub and the inner tub.

Check your motor coupling, it is between the motor and transmission, made of rubber and plastic, if it is not broken and you heard a lot of screaching ,i would say it is your basket drive tube-could have gotten worn down on the bottom around the clutch brake area! Better purchase a used basket drive tube, install it with a new clutch and it will start working for you.

Thank you !!

Our neptune front-loader has become extremely loud during spin cycles, you almost need hearing protection, otherwise, it works great

Ball bearings have worn out. Replace as a set. Replace Water seals in the drum. Check the bearing shaft for any scrub marks. Check bearing housing. Fix new bearings now

Loud sounds coming from the washer on spin cycle

That is a characteristic of bearings gone bad. You should look into replacing the bearings.

Maytag Performa - Loud Noises during Spin Cycle

This washer is JUNK!!!!!! We have the same washer (2 1/2 years old) and same problem. Tried to replace the bearing myself, no luck. So I called a repair man to come out and look at it. As soon as i told him the model number, they would'nt even come out. Very common problem for this washer. We are on our way to Sears to purchase a Kenmore.....GOOD LUCK
