Ahhh, this is a common problem. The only file system that is both Windows and Apple compliant is the FAT32 file system format. You will have to back up everything and reformat to FAT32.

If you use FAT32 you are restricted to on 4GB files... That means no movies, no long recording, nothing :-/

_OR_

You can format the HDD with your Apple computer and have no restrictions. That file format is called Mac OS Extended Journalled. I reccomend this but keep in mind, it is NOT readable with all non-Mac friendly operating systems, especialy Windows :)

SOURCE: Unable to write , only read ????

This is probably formatted with NTFS, the hard drive format used by Vista and now Windows 7.

Mac's OS can't write to NTFS but it can read it. I assume the data is important, so try another PC to transfer to another hard MAC hard drive then port that into your Mac or You can try to down convert it to FAT if you are proficient with utilities.

I cannot open any of my files on my signature mini

If anyone else has been using the hard drive, they may have changed the permission settings or encrypted them.
Another consideration, did you log in as an administrator? Was your "User Account" setting changed from Administrator to "Limited"?

Is the signature mini hard drive formatted to the same file allocation table setting as the OS you're plugged into?

Please need your help, I can only read in my hard drive, minisignature 320 G , Under permissions says " Only Read" , how can I change it to read and write, thanks //Salvador Penaloza

Your files were created under a different user name or computer and you are probably using windows 7.

Activating the Administrator Account and using that should resolve the problem after you click through security windows.
