Hello,

The first thing you should always do when working on your refrigerator is either unplug it from the outlet or turn off the breaker supplying power to it. Don't worry about your food going bad; the interior of the fridge will remain cold for a few hours after power loss and this job only takes a few minutes.

Next, on the bottom front of your refrigerator there should be a grill-like cover panel. If you have never cleaned your condenser coils before, then this grill will probably look kind of hairy itself! Some models have panels that simply snap off, while others may need to be unscrewed. Remove this panel.
Turn the vacuum cleaner on and use the wand and nozzle attachment to clean out all of the dirt and debris that has accumulated under your refrigerator. Then, focus the nozzle on the condenser coils. Try to get as much dust as possible out of the coils. When you feel that the vacuum has sucked up everything it possibly can, turn your attention on that dirty cover plate. Use the vacuum to clean out the grills and remove all of the dirt. For the best results, give it a nice wash with some hot bleach water.

Dry off the cover plate and install it back on the refrigerator. Plug the refrigerator back in or turn the breaker back on. That's all it takes to clean your condenser coils and keep your refrigerator running as efficiently as possible. if after all this and the refrigerator still remain at 00, check if the refrigerator is running, is the fan working and can you hear the sound of the compressor, if yes, it is possible it is low on freon, you might need to refill the compressor with freon.

Take care.

Probably low on freon(which means a leak) or a blockage in sealed system. Both costly repairs.

Freezer not getting below ) degrees vacuum condenser message keeps flashing

The condenser is the 'radiator' located under the unit near the compressor. If it's clogged it will cause this. Make sure, also, that the fan at the condenser is operating.

If you've not yet cleaned the condenser, do so with a vacuum both sucking, and then blowing, to clean it well. BE READY FOR A DUSTY MESS!!

One thing you can do is make sure condenser coils have plenty of area around them (nothing lying against refrigerator) to prevent air flow. If possible vacuum and clean condenser coils and make sure freezer door is completely closed.

I have a GE mdl PSI23SGRCSV side by side. initially the digital temp displays for both freezer and fridge sides went to 16 on freezer side and 43 on fridge side. This happened almost overnight it seemed....

it may be that your fridge is now low on freon the techs now do not know what to do the best thing to do is to call the tech and ask them to test the compressor pressures and see if it is low on charge. unless you know how to take the lower back panel off (the one that is probably cardboard) and feel the lines on the compressor and see if it is really cold and really hot that means that it is cooling properly but if it feels a little warm cominv out of the cooling side and hot on the return side then you need more freon.

The tempature is set for 38 degrees, but the refrigerator is only at 47 degrees. Any ideas?

Chartigan - had this problem with my 1998 642 about 5 years ago, and had to have the condenser coils replaced twice- because the refrigerant was leaking. warning signs are: temp is more than 37 degrees [ get a fridge thermometer to monitor], food seemed to spoil quickly, and frequent notices from the display bar to clean condenser . after cleaning it 3 times in a month, when i called the service center they said that warning actually means"call service center" - arrrggghh the manual sure doesnt say that! anyhow - just something to consider, and hope your problem is not this serious.

The refrigerator has been running since we plugged

I think it needs replacing. In some cases, the thermometer is actually the front of the controller of the unit. This could be why it runs constantly. I would also look at the condenser coils and make sure they are really clean.
let's start there. let me know if I can help further.

Home Air Condition cooling problem

Hello. If your outdoor coils are dirty it's a good chance the indoor coils are dirty also. Clean the indoor coils and flush out the condensate line.
I know it's tempting to feel the air and try to decide if the unit is working properly but, you need to use a thermometer and while the unit is running check the temperature at the return air vent and then check the temperature at the supply vent closest to the unit. Remember to let the thermometer set for about 5 minutes before reading.
You should be looking for about 15 degrees F cooling between the return and supply.
If your coils are clean make sure the outdoor fan is operating properly. The air coming out of the outdoor fan should feel warm, almost hot. If not you may need to check your pressures. Good luck and let me know what you find.

Refrigerator freezes things the freezer works fine:

Most common is a dirty condenser coil. If you have not cleaned it recently vacuum and brush the coil underneath and the back bottom compressor compartment. Blocked air flow will cause erratic temps in the refrigerator section.

Refridgerator temperature

I think it may be a defrost system problem. If you have frost on the back wall the problem is related to the defrost timer or defrost heaters or thermostat.

Also check the condenser for dust. If plugged with dust the system can not get rid of the heat. If dust is present clean it out completely.
Remove the toe plate under the refrigerator door to check the condenser.
