Question about GE Monogram ZISS480NRSS 48" Built-In Side-By-Side Refrigerator (ZIS-S480NRSS, ZIS S480NRSS)

1 Answer

On my 48 inch built-in Monogram ZISS48NCASS, the refrigerator

On my 48 inch built-in Monogram, the refrigerator side seems to have a high temperature differential between the top and bottom. At the top of the fridge, the temp is around 40 F while the bottom in the veggie drawers reads 18. The bottom freezes. I replaced the damper control with no change in performance. I also placed the old damper control in the fridge to see if the door was closing as it should and it did.
There are some vents on the bottom left of the fridge where I suspect too much cold air is coming from the freezer side. Should I attempt to block some of the vents to see if that increases temperature or is there a lower damper built into the dividing wall?

I would assume the damper is operating since your upper temperature is normal. I believe there is a "thermodisk" near the top in the fresh food section, You didn't indicate how cold the freezer is. If the freezer section is way below zero try turning it slightly warmer.0 is normal for a freezer. You shouldn't have to block those vents, I also would assume the evaporator fan is running in the freezer.

Hello, additionally my fridge thermodisk / control is set to 1, warmest. The freezer disk is set to 6 and the temp ranges between 18 and 25. The freezer should probably be a little colder as the icemaker does not engage but the fridge side is already too cold.

Also, yes the evaporator fan is running, although it seems like there is a lot of heat that comes off the top. I have also considered attempting to install a few small CPU fans on the refrig side to better circulate the warm and cold air.

My GE Monogram side by side built in refrigerator will not freeze ice or keep food frozen. It stays just under the freezing temperature. The refrigerator portion seems to work. Can anyone help?

its possible that its either short of gas or the little fan motor in frezzer/fridge is not working, but if its only making ice now and then its sounds like a gas shortage

Refrigerator is not getting COLD

clean the coils on the back of the fridge and make sure the condenser fan is free and running normally. that is the fan at the back of the unit on the bottom where the compressor is. if it cant ge rid of the heat, it wont cool. also make sure the the fan that supplys the cold from the freezer to the fridge is working.
