Open up the lid of the printer where the ink cartridges are, and make sure they didn't come loose.

Uninstall the generic driver from your computer first. (It's probable that you installed the OS driver which only runs the printer. If you leave this in place then you will confuse your computer.) Then disconnect the data cable before rebooting the machine. Now install the software from above.
