There is no any connection with your cam and virus, every setting of your cam need to make default and then see the change, or give me more clear idea what happend with your cam? is it working or not? can you see anything? if yes, then you need to work only on cam not on other thing for cam.

My computer had a virus so i wiped it out and installed windows XP but now my built in webcam wont work, how do i get it to work again?

Assuming you had XP on it before: This means there is a driver for the camera. First try the easy thing - go to control panel, then add hardware. It will scan for new devices. If it finds the camera, let it install it. If it does not, then try going to the laptop manufacturer website and see if they have the driver. I did a quick search and found most of the laptops like yours have Vista on them. If you went back to XP from Vista, you might have trouble finding a driver for XP.

Thought laptop had virus spoke to acer wiped laptop under acer advice now will not work at all use laptop for study only 18 months old thanks stephanie brookes

Have you reloaded your laptop's operating system, as well as all drivers for other parts of your computer, like Wireless and CD/DVD driver? Did the computer actually have a virus? Viruses best removed with antivirus software before wiping the entire Hard Drive. Let me know if this is not helpful ...

Hi gembo,

I'm gonna try and help you out with this but first I need to know the actual problem that your
having there. Can you actually hear any sound from your computer when windows loads up?
If what you mean are the mp3 files that you actually have saved on your computer after you wiped
everything out. You can actually retrieved it using 3rd party software but its more like 50/50 situation already.
