Check for excessive resistance in the mower blade mechanism is my best suggestion, you may have a failed part that is jemmin up and overloading the motor.
Most of these models have a automatic choke, located on the carburetor. Some are coil springs and others are electronic. There is no manual adjustment on these. Some older models had it included as part of the throttle control. My guess is yours is automatic and is part of the carburetor system.
They are common item to go bad.
Remove round cover on primary cover. Loosen lock nut around screw in center of clutch plate. Back off adjusting screw. Tighten screw until it JUST touches. Back off 1/4 turn. Hold in place while tightening lock nut.
Adjust clutch cable adjuster until there's 1/16-1/8" free play at hand lever.
