SOURCE: how do u service an ecg cable and test its

I usually just jiggle the ekg lead wires around while hooked up to a simulator. If you don't do it this way you might test it and have it appear to be working but than turn into an intermittent problem. If you have more questions on this, please let me know.

I have leads on patient and machine says leads off. everything is hooked up, why won't it give me a reading?

Any one of the lead is broken. you have to replace the ecg lead.
All the ecg machines have self diagnosing before its acquire the signals from the patient to print signal. while performing this function the machine detects all the signals from all the leads are prompt or not , if any one of the lead is missing it will not go further and will indicate check cable.

With leads hook correctly machine contuines to flat line

Check your RL (green) lead or trunk cable.

Right leg is the ground so (if it's bad) you won't get a QRS complex.

Welsh allen at-2 lead light is on however ekg machine will not give tracing

hi,
There is some problem with the patient cable. Any one of the lead is broken inside. AT2 senses the presence of all the lead first and then only it will acquire the ECG and store it in its memory, after that it will print the ECG.
If any one of the lead have some problem. it will not go to the next procedure. and will indicate the lead off light.

1. check are you connected the lead correctly.
2. clean the electrode properly.
then try one more time. if problem remains. you have to replace the patient cable.

The print for the reading is dark and the lines are all over the place. Mac1200 Thanks, Draya

If the ecg waveforms are all over the place you are probally recieving electrical interferance. If that happens when nobody is connected try adjusting the filters and see if it makes a diffrence. If it does not make a diffrence it might be the patient cable or leads.

I have the Welch Allyn PCR 100 and have never been able to get it to produce an ekg even though I returned it and they had it working, when I hook it up it just doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Could be bad\expired electrodes, mislabeled lead wires and the patient cable is loose. Also, if one lead is intermittently working it may not show any leads on the report because that one lead is bad. If it is an intermittent problem it could work just fine for somebody else and not you. I can work on this for you if you need more help.
