Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

My GWL 11 is stuck right before the rinse cycle. It will not drain. The two orange rinse lights and the red spin light is on, and there is a quiet electrical humming sound. No error beeps. I've already unplugged it, waited, and tried again. No luck. It will agitate, but won't drain or spin.

Hi just read your posting. Now bail some of the water out by hand with a pot or small bucket so you can lean the machine back far enough to look underneath the machine without it leaking everywhere. Now when are looking underneath the machine look to the front right and you should see a red or black fan,This is your pump.Turn the fan clockwise and anticlockwise a few times to loosen the pump if any thing is jammed. The fan should spin freely. Now put the machine back on its feet and select a spin cycle and hopefully the machine starts to drain. Please reply to tell me how you got on or if the machine is still not draining or you have the other type of pump.Good luck.

We had a similar issue: macvhine washed, but would not spin or drain. Machine cycled water in, as if it were about to spin, but lid never locked and spin cycle never kicked in. Diagnostic test indicated drain pump is blocked. We tried this solution, and it worked - while the machine was empty. As soon as we put clothes in it, the problem recurred. We have now bailed the machine out 4 times and are at our wits end. Any other suggestions?

Same exact issue. Tried solution. Machine works perfectly. Looked like typical dust accumulation around black fan. I guess my Spring cleaning will include dusting under the washer.

I had a similar problem, however, it did beep when it stuck on the wash cycle and would not agitate. I tried to get a diagnostic code, but it would not display any. I than decided to disassemble it. When I removed the basket, I heard and felt water sloshing in the bottom cavity. If I understand the design correctly, this plastic cavity on the bottom should be hollow and empty to allow the basket to float upward as the water level rises which allows the machine to agitate. I drilled two holes in the bottom and drained out most of the water. I than sealed them with epoxy. The machine worked fine afterwards. However, I can't tell just where the water entered, so I called Fisher and Paykel for a price on a new basket or bowl liner assembly as it's called in the parts breakdown. Their price was $160 plus $50 shipping. Rather than buy it, I purchased a new front load washing machine.

I have a similar problem. My GW611 fills and drains but will not agitate or spin. I can hear water sloshing somewhere inside but cannot see where. Sounds like quite a bit of water behind the drum wall. I tipped it over and drilled a hole in top rim, some water drained and machine worked fine for a week. Now problem is back. Does not progress through cycles, but will progress manually. Fills and drains, does not spin or agitate. Beeps and ends with green lights 3,4,5 showing. Where should I drill next?

I am assuming that this is a front loading machine. Does water drain from the machine? It is possible that the input to the drain pump is clogged or the drain pump may be bad.

I had the same problem before, but removing the kink in drain hose does the trick. Maybe yours is more complicated but try it.

Hi - the out of balance switch has activated this will be found under the lid right side if you bend lw enough you can see it hanging by a lever - it may have activated from the previous cycle - it needs to be freed - put it outside of the bowl and be sure its free to operate - if not it needs to be removed and replaced.

Hi dude - is this a replica of the lights - where I put 0 theres no light, 1 is a light ok you follow? on the top is 8 lights from left - right the first 5 is always green, next 2 is orange & last is red! so I will try and see if we are on the same track...

Here goes - 0010 0101 is this what you have? - if yes then the pump is either overheating of severely blocked - more likely to be overheated.

This is how the washer works. it fills, washes then rinses - now pump starts up as machne joggles and agitates to set up for a spin, then final rinse - as it goes to end it does the same as in rinse.

Therefore I tend to think we would be looking at the same lights on your machine - to my illustration -

Keep the chin up - if you need to replace the pump then look up other F&P request or look up my solutions to help you.

My fisher & paykel smart drive excellence 7.5 washing machine squirts water in a few times and then stops and beeps and displays 3 lights red orange and (short wash) green as well as low and med speed...

Although slightly unclear these are the only possible error combinations for the leds on the machine as you look at it with red always on the end right hand side.

(11) 1011 (Green - nil - Orange - Red) - pressure problems perhaps a blockage in the tube to bowl.
(13) 1101 (Green-Orange-nil-Red) - pump is faulty
(15) 1111 (all lights on) - display module is faulty

I do not recall that the leds across the spin speed actually means something.

Good luck

Washing machine wil not fill - tries several times then stops and all lights except 4 go out

That would be the balance switch, should be located rear right under the main board. over time the switch becomes jamed in the on position and the machine always thinks its off balance. $4 to $10 for a new one.
