There are several options you can do to try to help speed up your computer. What operating system do you have?

- Defragmenting your hard drive will condense your files and make them quicker to access. Run the Windows Disk Defragmenter to get rid of fragmented files. (Allow about 45-50 minutes for the program to run.)

- Get rid of any unnecessary startup programs you currently have set to load when the computer boots up. Type "msconfig" into the Start menu's Run bar and click OK. When the System Configuration Utility opens up, go to the Startup tab and look through the program files that are set to load on startup. Remove the check mark from any programs that you know for a fact are unnecessary, such as Adobe Reader, Google Update or Google Desktop, Yahoo Search Protection, etc. Don't uncheck any operating system files, anti-virus program files, or any files that you want to run on startup.

- If you want to invest less than $100, you can upgrade your RAM. Depending on how much RAM you currently have installed, adding more RAM is cheap, easy, and the quickest way to increase your system's memory.

Did any of these changes help?

Why is my computer running slow and why is it taking me so long to open my searches.

Make sure you have a recognized anti virus program running like Microsoft Essentials or Norton Antivirus. Then run Advanced System Care from That should sort your malware issues out.

A program - Advanced System Care - has been corrupted by your antivirus: it has thought it's a malware and has deleted a core file. Change your present antivirus - is garbage - and reinstall Advanced System Care from here

Slow computer

There is a great possibility that your computer has encountered a virus or malware and has got its processor busy. First of all you need to open the maintenance icon from the all programs to deframment all the drives. Now clean up all your temporary internet files, the cookies and history by selecting the explorer, open tools, use the subsequent windows for cleaning up . Next use your antivirus to fully scan the system, use a good malware cleaner like- advanced system care- which can be used to clean the registry, delete all temp files and make the system faster. If this wont improve, take away all unnecessary programs from your PC by uninstalling them, Delete off unneccessasy large files from your C drives, manage your documents in the seperate partitions. If this improves the speed you can continue to do this often. If not try to restore the PC to an earlier date by selecting the back up/ restore icon from the control panel. This must work out well or else there is a possibility that some files in your software is lost and reduces the speed. Hope this advice helps you out. Good day

What the disadvantages of norton antivirus and what are the performance norton antivirus

Norton may slow down the performance of your computer, and it is a paid software what i think is instead of going with this you can download any of these free software (avg, avast or avaira) they all are free for one year and do the same thing what norton does without slowing down your computer.

Down loaded new nortonantivirus from tiscali seams to be slowing down lap top any sugestions

Unfortunately many antiviruses tend to slow down things: they have to check each file on execution.

Check that your antivirus isn't scanning your whole system just now. Many antiviruses will do that upon first installation, to be sure they're running on a clean system. If that's the case, wait for it to complete.

If this happens often, there's a "speed" setting - fast scan will make the computer slow, but slow scan or "idle scan" will load the system much less. Try those.

Otherwise, maybe another antivirus might work better. I've always found ESET's NOD32 very light-treading even on not-exactly-bleeding-edge computers. Another one is AVG, of which there's even a Personal Free edition.

I am facing a big problem(System working very slow. When outlook mail/.doc,.xlx etc).I have Dell Optiplex755 modell system,1gb ram,Os Xp with sp-2,Office2003 with servicepack3and antivirus Trendmicro... need to clean your "Windows"for unnecessary files.Search on Google for "free windows sweeper"...It a software very useful and free to use. Install the software check options in left panel and push "CLEAN". Second: Search on Google for a software for fix hidden errors(ex: Registry repair or Advanced System Optimizer) both software are 15 or 30 days free to use.....And don't forget START PROGRAMS ACCESORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-DISK DEFRAG or (my recommendation is to use Advanced System Care. They have a free version very good....and one more thing START RUN and type "msconfig" hit ENTER and go to tab "STARTUP" and uncheck programs that you do not need to start at computer startup...After all those things you will have a new computer...more faster....more optimize....Goood Luck!
